Police are in pursuit of a motorcyclist who failed to stop when they attempted a traffic stop. He was on Route 5 headed into the city going 100 mph and allegedly passing vehicles unsafely. He sped through downtown going 80 mph, zoomed into Le Roy and ran the red light at Church Street. Dispatch has notified Livingston County of the incident.

He is described as a black man on a red Honda, registered to an address on Clinton Street in Rochester. He briefly slowed down, which is how they could get the plate information. They have information that the driver is wanted for allegedly committing a felony in Rochester and the bike is reportedly stolen.

He is being followed now by law enforcement in Caledonia.

UPDATE 6:03 p.m.: The dispatch center was notified that the suspect ditched the bike and fled on foot, last seen running through back yards off River Street in the Village of Avon. A K-9 unit is being dispatched to try and apprehend the suspect. Genesee County Sheriff's deputies are also going to that area.

A caller reports to dispatch that the neighbor's dog is running loose on Maple Avenue in Oakfield and the owners have moved out of their apartment, possibly leaving the dog behind. It is described as a "police dog and somewhat aggressive."

UPDATE 9:27 p.m.: Two Sheriff's deputies are scouting for the dog, which was last seen "by the mulch pile."

UPDATE 9:33 a.m.: They were unable to locate the dog. They are back in service.

UPDATE 11:25 a.m.: A Sheriff's deputy has spotted the dog. It's in the area of Ledge Road and Route 77. It's a white German shephard with a blue collar. And its owner contacted authorities and told them the dog was missing. It will reunited with the owner shortly.

UPDATE: This afternoon it was determined that the white German shephard is owned by a member of law enforcement who lives in Batavia and who reported the dog missing very early this morning. So, apparently it's not the dog said to be running loose from a reportedly vacant apartment in Oakfield.

A car crashed into a tree in Alabama and the elderly female driver reportedly has a back injury and is unable to move but is conscious and alert. Alabama Fire's Engine #1 is responding along with Mercy medics. The location is 7495 Maple St. across from Ledge Road.

UPDATE 8:45 a.m.: The patient is being transported to Strong Memorial Hospital.

UPDATE 9:39 a.m.: The Alabama assignment is back in service.

Tom Rivers, editor of the online-only site to the north of us, Orleans Hub, was in Batavia today for Dan Kennedy's appearance at Present Tense Books.

Kennedy is author of "The Wired City," a book about the future of journalism that includes a section about the news business in Batavia.

Rivers spoke with Kennedy and shares some of the things he learned.

Nancy Jo Rademacker has a joy for teaching yoga that is no more evident than when she teaches one of her regular classes for young children at her new studio in City Centre.

More than 13 years ago, Rademacker reached out to BOCES to see if it offered yoga classes. They didn't, so she offered her services. That was her first job teaching yoga and it's been her passion ever since.

She said it's her "inner calling" and why she also decided to open Maya Yoga Studio across from Sunny's Restaurant in the mall.

The studio is named after her 11-year-old daughter, who also practices yoga.

“Yoga is a way to take care of yourself positively," Rademacker said. "It focuses on the whole of who you are -- physical, emotional and spiritual."

All classes are taught by her. She recently completed an advanced yoga training degree through the Kripalu School of Yoga and Health. The studio space is newly renovated and it is warm, comfortable and inviting. Classes are taught in low lighting with peaceful music playing softly in the background.

The classes that are offered range from gentle yoga for the beginner, to vigorous yoga for the experienced. There are several classes in between, as well as specialty classes, such as prenatal yoga, chair yoga and meditation classes.

There is even lunchtime yoga, which allows you to drop in for a few minutes or spend the whole hour. For some classes, drop-ins are welcome, while the more specialized classes require advance registration.

Yet another fight involving juveniles is reported in Austin Park. Police are on scene.

A group of youths are reportedly fighting on the east side of Austin Park. Not clear if this is related to the earlier calls, but the police were called there a minute ago and are on scene.

UPDATE 3:24 p.m.: A responding officer cleared the scene.

A group of five youths who were allegedly causing trouble at Austin Park were rounded up by Batavia police less than an hour ago and they all walked to the adjacent police station so the officer could take a report and call their parents. They were released.

UPDATE 2:39 p.m.: Dispatch has received another call that the same group of kids is back at Austin Park repeating their alleged mischief, but we have no further details on what that involves. The same officer who handled the first call will be responding again.

A caller complains that a dog has been locked inside a black Toyota Corolla for 20 minutes in the Walmart parking lot. The windows are down. An animal control officer is responding. The vehicle is said to be by the trees on the west side of the parking lot, in the third row.

UPDATE 2:06 p.m.: The officer reports that the vehicle was gone by the time she got there, to which the dispatcher replies "surprise."

The concert season at Darien Lakes Performing Arts Center continued Friday with country superstar Brad Paisley headlinging another one of his annual shows locally, with opening acts Lee Brice and Chris Young.

Tomorrow at 11 a.m., Dan Kennedy, author of "The Wired City," a book about the changes in journalism in the Digital Age, will be at Present Tense on Washington Avenue, Batavia.

Batavia's little corner of the media world is featured in the book and Kennedy will read a portion of the book and talk about what he's observed about media in Batavia.

NOTE: I can't be there at 11 a.m. because I need to be at the Oatka Festival Parade, but I plan on stopping in the store about 12:15 p.m. or so.

Ten homes in Genesee County will be on this year's annual garden tour sponsored by the Landmark Society, among them for the first time, the home of Jason and Anna Molino on Vernon Street, Batavia.

The Molino's have been slowly improving on the yard since moving into the home a few years ago and Jason said after going on the tour last year, the he thought he and Anna should show off what they've been doing.

The city manager comes from a gardening background, he said. His mother was a gardener. Jason's father immigrated from Italy to Canada with his father, and Jason's grandfather had a landscaping business in Montreal.

The front of the house features one of Jason's favorite plants, hostas, and Anna adds pots and baskets.

"The perennials around the house are low maintenance and give some color," Jason said. "Anna does a lot of the flower baskets and flower pots with annuals so we have color in the front to add just a little bit of spunk to the house."

In the back yard is a garden plot with garlic, potatoes, peppers and cucumbers and dill for canning, as well as some perennial flowers being staged and matured in the plot for eventual transplanting to elsewhere in the yard.

The garden tour is Sunday and starts at noon. After it's over at 4 p.m., there will be a dessert reception at St. James Episcopal Church followed by a talk by landscape designer Tim Richley, of Darien, on “Underused Plants for Western New York.”

The cost is $20. If you don't have a ticket yet, you can get them starting at 11 a.m. at St. James. There will also be door prizes. All proceeds benefit the church's restoration project.

A dog or dogs are locked inside a red Pontiac with the windows up near the food entrance of Walmart. An animal control officer is responding to the complaint.

UPDATE 1:30 p.m.: The owner was paged and the officer advised the person about the danger of leaving a dog in a car with the windows up.

As soon as the early season corn that was planted this spring is picked in a couple of weeks, Peter Zeliff will be ready to begin construction of his planned 76-unit housing development off East Main Street Road and Seven Springs Road in the Town of Batavia.

Zeliff has acquired title to the property, according to his agent Tony Mancuso, and with one more final approval, expected Tuesday at the town's planning board meeting, the path will be clear for Zeliff to start grading the farmland.

Just as soon as that corn is harvested.

Thursday night, the county planning board recommended approval of the final approval of the 109 acre subdivision, which will be known as Oakwood Estates.

The project will include 44 townhomes (the maroon area in the photo above) and 33 single family homes.

It's the first major subdivision in Genesee County in a number of years and will be located near the fast-growing Genesee Valley Agri-Business Park.

Mancuso said the first house should be ready for occupancy next spring.

A $5,000 donation from Kid Rock is listed on the Web page set up at giveforward.com to raise funds for Jason McNeil, the former WNY resident who is in a coma after apparently being punched by another patron at the performer's concert at Darien Lake on July 6.

McNeil is still in a coma but making progress according to a Facebook page set up to keep people apprised of his condition.

The donation page says that so far 290 donations have been made totaling more than $30,000 with a goal of raising $20,000 more over the next 29 days.

The 43-year-old Alabama resident is originally from Alden, but reportedly is very involved in his community in Tuscaloosa and has lots of friends and supporters there. He is involved in several charities in the community and is a member of Kiwanis.

He's been in a coma since being taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC after allegedly being punched in the face by Craig Malcolm Lawson, 34, of Talbot Street, Courtland, Ontario, Canada.

Lawson is charged with assault, 3rd, a misdemeanor, and is out of jail on $1,000 bail.

While the Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation, District Attorney Lawrence Friedman said his office will review the evidence as the case develops. It's possible Lawson could face a felony charge if there is sufficient evidence to sustain such a charge.

An upgraded assault charge would be assault in the second degree. In order to prove that charge, the prosecution would need to show that the defendant intended to cause serious injury.
