posted by Billie Owens in crime.

The law is on the lookout for a white male wanted on a warrant. Batavia City Police and Sheriff's Deputies have set up a parameter search in the area of State and North streets and Fairmont Avenue.

No further information is available at this time.

UPDATE (12:35 p.m.): The subject of the manhunt is wanted for allegedly violating his probation following his conviction for burglary in the second degree. A helicopter is requested to help in the search.

UPDATE 12:48 p.m. (by Howard): The Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect as Christopher A. Laird, who has been on the county's very short wanted list since Feb. 2. He's been spotted in the city a couple of times recently, including today. Laird is not considered dangerous. If spotted, witnesses should call 345-3000.

UPDATE 1:17 p.m.: A witness informed law enforcement a short time ago that an 18- to19-year-old wearing blue jeans and a T-shirt ran through his yard "looking scared" about 45 minutes ago. That was on State Street. The search is moving southeast.

UPDATE 1:32 p.m.: Police and Sheriff's units are calling off the search, going back in service.

Not dangerous? Then why are they burning up so much jet fuel with the state police helicopter?

Its polly just good practice for manhunting without actualy wasting fuel for no reason. They have to train in manhunting so why not use this as the training.

its just like when they used the spike strips and made that kid hit that house. they never get a chance to use these resources and theyre like kids in a candy store when they get the smallest reason to use an excuse to use them.

Carefull you never know when you or a love one is going to be subject to a dangerious siuation, maybe a flood and will be more than happy to have the assistance or protection the local Police Agencys. Happen to close this door with cries of anti police and you might just suffer in the end. Hundreds of people are about to run out of unemployement and will have go on somehow. I for one praise the local agencys and am very happy they know how to fly the bird and react to life threating siuations. It's easy!......"Live and let live" know when you are well off. Thank a Vet and dont knock cops, please!

that chopper in the air would make a killer opening to the show coupled with the bad boys song.
