Gerace: Local Republicans not involved in release of Christian e-mail

Local Republicans want nothing to do with Tim Paine's release of a Rose Mary Christian e-mail in which Christian tells fellow council members about her termination from Wal-Mart 20 months ago.

Joe Gerace, chairman of the City Republicans, called this morning and was adamant that The Batavian publish a statement from him saying that neither City nor County Republicans had anything to do with Paine's decision to release the e-mail.

"It's personal," Gerace said. "This is between Rose Mary and Tim Paine and we have nothing to do with it."

"I don't like her philosophy, but Rose Mary and I are good friends," Gerace said. "Why would I get involved in a thing like this?"

Gerace said he doesn't like mudslinging and doesn't like to see local Republicans involved with such tactics.

"I don't condone dirty politics, dirty tricks," Gerace said.

When contacted this morning, Christian's Republican opponent Bob Radley was unaware yet of the issue. He said he had heard rumors, but it really wasn't something he was interested in pursuing.

"I'm not into talking about people's personal lives," Radley said. "That's not the way I want win an election. I want to win an election on the issues, not based on what my opponent has done."

Good Call Mr. Radley and Mr. Gerace. Its nice to know that you are not willing participants in these drummed up lies, and exagerations, to discredit Rosemary Christian. Rediculious isnt it? I think you 2 have had enough embarrasment, caused by a certain few. Nice to know you are not willing to STOOP.

Walmart should be ashamed for having such policies in place. Their right wing agenda and monopolization of the low-end retail market has caused a major decline in the formerly valued, local business economy Batavia used to have.

Fact: The Republican party was not informed of my statements. Fact: I have never met or spoken to Mr. Radley. Fact: When you take something without paying for it is called stealing. Fact: Rose admitted she is a thief. Fact: I informed the media months ago. Fact: I never blamed Julie Wallace. Fact: I drummed up no lies or exaggerations.

Fact: Rose Mary never admited "to being a thief". She did admit to breaking a store rule and was let go for it.

Doesn't sound like you kept Julie out of it when you talked to Howard.

You have the backing of two, maybe three people, who read this board. The Republicans disavow your mudslinging. Don't you wonder why?
The only thing you got out of this was that you got your 15 minutes of retribution and will end up out of the political loop for years to come.

FACT: Mr. Paine is a FORMER Democrat. I hope our committee looks to the positive things we HAVE and ARE GOING to accomplish and stop paying attention to this story.
