Photos: Byron Heritage Festival

By Howard B. Owens

Saturday, Bryon celebrated its annual Heritage Festival. I missed the parade, but stopped by for a bit of the classic car show and picnic, which included music (while I was there) from the band Brick.

Thanks to all who came to enjoy the 5K race, fishing derby, horseshoe tournament, hot dog eating contest, good food, awesome cars, great vendors, lots of raffle items from area businesses, cool music and fireworks. If you missed it, be sure to visit next year.

The man with the cabbage, a town judge, won a Town Park Committee raffle with lottery tickets stuck into the cabbage. That's right, cabbage from Byron can change your life!

My family really enjoyed the festival again this year! My son Jake won 2nd place in the fishing derby and won some cash. He was able to buy Star Wars figures at one of the vendors. My son David stayed at Tressle Park to fish and I bumped into Howard as I went back to get him. Listened to Ghostriders and ate some good grub! Thanks to Byron Kiwanis and all the rest!
