All day

Hello sports fans!  Just a note that we have started our open soccer for the summer, a little earlier than normal, but its okay!  On Monday nights, at John Kennedy there will be open soccer for anyone and everyone.  It is co-ed, all ages welcome.  The participants usually range somewhere between 16 and 60.  Again, its on Monday nights, at John Kennedy at any open field space there, between 6:30 and 7:00.  Playing time runs until it gets too dark to play or people get too tired!  Again, anyone is welcome.  If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at ammd1727@yahoo.com or call 585.409.5228.  We play every Monday rain or shine.  Its a good chance for people to meet new sports fans, get a little exercise and just have a chance to kick a ball around without having to commit to a league or a team.  Depending on the number of players, we will break people up into teams so its always new each week!

6:30pm

Noblehurst Farms Inc, of Linwood, will be
hosting a summer fundraiser to benefit the
Pluta Cancer Center on Sunday afternoon,
August 9th. The picnic will feature: Chicken Barbeque
(York Fire Department), ice cream, live music from Tim Bucci and his band, tours of the farm and rotary milking facility, and a farm equipment exhibition.

The Pluta Cancer Center in Henrietta has served many patients and families in
Rochester’s outlying communities, including our own. Gary McIntyre,
of Noblehurst Farms, has been the inspiration for this picnic. Following his own
cancer treatment, Gary searched for a meaningful way to thank Pluta while
informing our community that they can “Choose Pluta” for cancer care.
A picnic on the farm seemed a perfect solution. As a not-for-profit cancer center
Pluta will use funds raised to:
  • provide complete, personalized care at no extra cost to patients
  • supply gas, grocery, and pharmacy gift cards for those facing economic hardship
  • provide lunch during chemotherapy
  • support complementary services: on-staff social worker, registered dietician, and oncology massage therapist

Within our small, close-knit communities we have seen far too many friends, family, and neighbors affected by cancer. This fundraiser is one small way to recognize the impact of this disease. The picnic’s planning team, comprised of Noblehurst Farms employees, York Fire Department volunteers, neighbors, church groups, and family, has been overwhelmed by the interest and generosity from the community for the event in the form of donations. Local businesses, including an overwhelming number of farms and agricultural vendors, are contributing their time, dollars, food, and equipment.

The picnic begins at 1 pm on Sunday August 9th at the farm’s main dairy facility on Craig Road in Pavilion. The chicken barbeque will run from until 3 pm, and farm tours from 2 – 5 pm. Tickets are on sale now and we invite you to join us by bringing friends, family, and neighbors. Call Linwood Turf Equipment at 585-584-3122 or visit www.plutacancercenter.org for ticket information. Tickets are pre-sale only, and limited in number.

Why not Mark your calendars for Sunday August 2nd and attend our Cornell Club Alumni Picnic and Student Send-off! You’ll have the opportunity to reminisce with fellow alums about our Cornell days – no matter whether you graduated in 1949 or 2009, our shared Cornell connection is a strong common bond!
This summer event celebrates our Cornell heritage, reacquaints us with old friends, allows us to meet new ones, introduces our Cornellian incoming and current students -- all while we enjoy a delicious Cornell Chicken BBQ and hearing from our Cornellian NYS Commissioner of Agriculture, Patrick Hooker. Our state dairy princess, Lauren Osborn, an incoming Cornellian freshman, will also be there.
The event will take place at the  Kunze home at 6340 LaGrange RoadWyoming, NY 14591. It’s sure to be a wonderful event with Cornellians and friends from the Genesee, Orleans, Livingston and Wyoming county region. Cornellians and guests from other counties are also certainly welcome. The time is 1 pm and the food will be served at 2. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children’s portions.
Please mail your reservations and checks to Hans or call them in to Hans at 585-495-6797 or to Kendra Lamb at 585-409-1543. Encourage your fellow Cornellians to meet you there!
