Photos: Batavia PD looking for help in identifying subject at Batavia Downs

By Howard B. Owens

Batavia PD is looking for the public's assistance in identifying the subject of this photo. It's related to an unspecified incident at Batavia Downs.

Anybody with information to share can contact Officer Marc Lawrence, mlawrence@batavianewyork.com.

Greg, How is it that you concluded the guy is a punk?, do you have insight into why the police are looking to identify this person, or is there something in the photo that has punk written all over it?
Is it possible that you have forgotten, innocent until proven guilty, or do you subscribe to guilty because the police are trying to identify him?

There are others who are clearly identifiable in the second picture who may or may not have desired to have a picture of them at Batavia Downs posted in a police ID search. Should it have been cropped by the police before release?

I love the #3 comment. I am amazed at the damage people try to inflict on the BDs facility by flushing all sorts of various objects down the toilets and jamming up the works. I have personally picked out coffee cups and brown paper toweling out of the commodes. People are idiots when they lose money.

Jeff, the short answer is no, when you enter the Downs there are signs that clearly state cameras are in use. Editing a picture only gives defense lawyers fodder.

I'm sorry for being judgemental. They're probably looking for him because he forgot his Jackpot winnings. Please!

So typical, judge people without any facts or knowledge, and forming negative opinions just because the police want to identify this person. Sure as hell hope some of you don't get called for jury duty, sheeeeesh.

Jeff, do you doubt that the police have ever sought someone who did nothing wrong? I'm here to tell you, it happens more than you think. Just off the top of my head I can give you 2 examples.

Mark, you answered my question. I did not know that signs clearly post that you are on camera. I have never been there. So I guess if you have been informed that your image is constantly being filmed, then you are fair game.

is The Batavian going to facilitate the " look for public assistance" every time it's requested by the PD? How long before The Batavian can no longer discern between offering such facilitation and being mandated to cooperate? How long?!

David, bout as long as it'll take someone like you to actually engage a thought process before posting a comment. Yeah like the police can mandate anything being put into the media, the only power they have with news media is the power to KEEP information from the media at their discretion.

Maybe you should go take a course in journalism and learn something before you spout off......
