Today's Poll: Will you watch Nik Wallenda walk across the Niagara Falls?

maybe if he wasn't going to wear a harness! Let's face it there is something in all of us that would like to see him fall! Just human nature, I think!

Why waste time watching it. If he succeeds or falls, the local news channels will show it over and over and over again. Channel 2 this morning had their local early show there running a live broadcast. Overkill. He isn't even doing it until tonight. Also would like to see him fall just because he can be really cocky about it all.

Because I will be busy, I am thankful that WBEN is carrying it live on the radio! Hmmmm, covering a tightrope act on radio....Announcer "Wallenda puts his right foot in front of his left foot, some hesitation, and now he slides his left foot around in front of his right. Amazing move!" Color Analyst "That is something, Wallenda has perfected that right/left switch and it is pure art to watch". ZZZZZZZ

I haven't kept up with this story and didn't even know the Niagara Falls stunt was tonight until I read it, where else, on The Batavian. Gary says Nik won't be wearing a harness and I'm disappointed in that decision. When we had a poll on whether he should wear a harness or not, I voted no, because that's the whole point of daredevilry. My Encarta Dictionary defines daredevilry as "(1) A fearless attitude; a carefree disregard for danger (2) Risk-taking; dangerous acts or stunts performed by a daring person.

It would seem to me that a harness sort of takes the edge off of "carefree disregard."

I am going to watch it regardless.

But why is this taking place at night?

Probably at night to make it more difficult (?.) I've heard that it was ABC who insisted on the harness. They threatened to pull out if he refused. Nik said it would have been a huge financial loss if ABC didn't sponsor him, so he agreed. He had to also *pre-pay* for the rescue team just in case. Alot of drama, mama! You wouldn't catch me in Niagara Falls tonight. Heck, the Stafford carnival scares me enough! Ha ha. :)

Sounds right for how things are nowadays, what with all the litigation and political correctness.

Howard's at the Stafford Carnival at this very moment, Mardell -- "fearlessly" photographing real-life risk-takers who serve their community honorably and voluntarily and don't do so for glory in any way, shape or form.
