My daughter had just left from a visit with me and was driving past and saw the shed on fire and called 911. She pounded on the door of the home but no response. There was a dog chained to a nearby tree directly in the path of the smoke and power line. She and another man were able to rescue the friendly dog and she frantically called me to bring a dog leash to the scene for the dog as I live less than a couple miles away. When I got there they were already closing the road off but allowed me by when I explained about the dog. The shed was fully engulfed in flames and fire trucks had just started to arrive. Someone had given my daughter, Beth Hagen, a thin rope to hold the dog until I got there. After waiting for a bit, I took the dog home with me as I have an outdoor pen. I left a note with emergency personnel for the homeowners. The dog is very friendly and was quite thirsty as you may imagine! Hopefully the owners will be contacting me later tonite.

Julie, thanks so much for giving us some details from the scene. Glad you could help the dog. I'm confident the residents will be in touch about their pet. The vast majority of animal owners are also animal lovers.
