Car vs. semi on Route 63 near Little Canada Road

By Billie Owens

A car vs. tractor-trailer accident, believed to be without injuries, is reported on Route 63 near Little Canada Road. The roadway is completely blocked. Bethany Fire Department is responding.

UPDATE 8:12 p.m.: A second semi-trailer is now involved. The first one "believe it or not," says the Bethany chief, was "pushed into the ditch by the wind and will need a heavy-duty tow." Stafford Fire Police are rerouting traffic. It is confirmed that there are no injuries.

UPDATE 8:32 p.m.: Bethany requests that southbound truck traffic be held at Cedar Street.

Ok, so it sounds like 2 accidents this morning and 2 accidents this evening in the same exact spot. This is a bad corner and it is made worse with idiot drivers going way to fast for the conditions. I would love to see a frequent police presence to enforce the speed limit here. To many wooden crosses for loved ones lost to not garner some attention.

With winds as high as they are and blowing snow going across road getting packed into ice, yes, they will slide off road-think of it as a big sail on a pivot.....even worse w/"super single" tires. Just a reminder to the motoring public-with high winds- and you meet an oncoming tractor trailer(especially van trailers)-be alert for the trailer to "swing" into your lane when traveling on snow covered/icy roads.
