James Carmichael, local businessman, former Assembly representative, dies at age 88

One of Genesee County's former Assembly representatives and a well-regarded local businessman, James Carmichael, died Monday at Buffalo General Hospital. He was 88.

A World War II veteran, Carmichael served in the Assembly from 1964 to 1966.

He was owner of the Carmichael Agency in Batavia for 60 years.

During his time with the Army Air Corps, Carmichael served in Japan and Burma. He was an active member of Oakfield Community Bible Church.

If you have insurance through his agency,please call the insurance company that supplied the policy to make sure it is in force. Hate to post something like this here,but would hate to see someone have a loss and find out that they aren't covered due to "non-payment" of the insurance.This happened to someone I know-luckily nothing happened.Jim's health was declining the last few months-that might have played a part in it.

I am sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He was a true friend. We spent many hours working on his and my political campaigns. He always was a great supporter. Rest In Peace James A. Carmichael, Jr.

....And this will get interesting. The guy I know had known Jim for over 30 years and has done business w/ him for quite awhile(Carmichael Agency)...There is a list of people being formed now-if you had ANY insurance through Jim,please contact your company that Jim dealt with and confirm if your insurance is in force or not.
