Two school districts announce closures this morning

By Howard B. Owens

Oakfield-Alabama schools are closed this morning, due to weather.

Pavilion school is closed, due to plumbing issues.

Pavilion students scheduled to take a regents exam at Pavilion High School are to report to the elementary building at their scheduled test time.

The National Weather Service has a wind chill advisory in effect until 10 a.m. with wind chills expected to be 15 to 25 degrees below zero.

I only ask the question because conditions are the same as yesterday..I didn't understand the reason why they were closed yesterday. But they are opened today..The roads were clear yesterday also...

John maybe its because the winds (which are still fierce) and the temps still make it dangerous. Our buses can break down and just a few min in this cold (which is much smaller than the amount of minutes that those who have to walk are exposed to. Frostbite and frost damage can occur very quickly and with children it can occur even faster. Right now 15 min= frostbite today.
