Law and Order: Dog seized by police after attack on a woman and her dog

By Howard B. Owens

Rhonda L. Reisman, 41, of State Street, Batavia, is charged with restrictions on running at large, prohibited nuisances (harboring a vicious dog) and harboring an unlicensed dog. Reisman is accused of owning a dog that was loose at 2 a.m. Monday and attacked a woman and her dog while on a walk. The woman and the dog both suffered injuries. Police believe this is not the first time this same dog has attacked the same woman. The dog was seized and is currently under the supervision and care of the Animal Shelter.

Robert M. Freeman, 22, of Pearl Street, Batavia, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment. Freeman is accused of driving the wheel of a vehicle being driven by another person at 10:38 p.m. Monday while on East Avenue, Batavia, causing the vehicle to strike the curb. There was allegedly a small child passenger in the car at the time. Freeman was jailed on $2,500 bail.

Ramel Joshua Askew, 20, of Rosedale Avenue, Bronx, is charged with disorderly conduct. Askew was allegedly using obscene and abusive language at 3:56 p.m. Tuesday while in front of the entrance of 14 W. Main St., Batavia.

Paul Dennis Barth Jr., 23, of Cohocton Road, Pembroke, is charged with criminal contempt, 2nd. Barth is accused of violating a Family Court order by contacting the protected person through a text message.

"Freeman is accused of driving the wheel of a vehicle being driven by another person" So if you take the wheel from the passenger seat while someone is occupying the drivers seat you're a scofflaw, but if the drivers seat is empty, you're a mailman : )

The last I knew Jeff, mail vehicles have a special setup on their vehicles so, they can drive on what we view as the passenger side or you can specially order a vehicle that can be driven on the left or right side of the car.

Yes, I see passengers steering the car while the driver is preoccupied with texting, eating or even putting makeup on, almost on a daily bases. You may not think it is a big deal and it might not be. However, the fact remains that, the individual did not have complete control over the car when it hit the curb. This put them and others at risk.

If, this is not such a big deal then why do newspaper deliveries constantly drive against traffic rather than operate from the passenger side? Besides I bet you would cry foul if, one of your love ones were involved in an accident and injured or severely injured because, some dumass driver and passenger were too stupid to pull over rather that drive like a moron.

The Police should have just put the dog down once they learned it has attacked a human. The dog cannot be trusted ever again.

MS Reisman should be banned from owning any dog in the future. Especially if the allegation is true about an previous attack. It is obvious that, MS Reisman has no concerns about her dog attacking, licensing the dog or following the leash law. Heck since, she cannot even follow these rules, I would almost bet the dog's vaccinations are not up to date as well.

Thanks John for the thorough undressing, but I might direct you to the emoji at the end of my post : ) It's a smiley face (humor, satire, light-heartedness), maybe I should have used the winky one.
