Midway company reportedly shorts fair on rides, admission price reduced

By Howard B. Owens

Press release:

We regret that due to situations beyond our control, our as advertised “New Midway Company” did not bring all of the scheduled rides. We however have a good selection of rides available to fairgoers. We have reduced the price of wrist bands to $12 for an entire session. Ride sessions are: Thursday 5pm-10pm, Friday 1pm-5pm & 6pm-10pm, & Saturday 1pm-5pm & 6pm-10pm. Friday and Saturday the rides are open from 1pm-11pm. We hope everyone comes out to the 175th Genesee County Fair!

We were SO disappointed yesterday (my husband & I.) Our 10 yr. old had fun on the 3 rides he went on, so it was worth it to see him enjoying himself.

I just don't remember a time that the midway was so sparse! We were there at noon yesterday for the $5 wristband for the kids, but none of the rides were open. Waited til almost 1:15. At least the fair kept the rides open until 4, instead of 3. And there were only about 2 games. What?

No snow cones, cotton candy, waffles... It was really sad, esp. since they are celebrating 175 years. You'd think it would be over the top.

Howard, I read the attached link with interest.

When asked for their wage records, "Midway" should've just said, "We're sorry, your Honor, but the hard drives holding the information you seek, and any other info that you may require in the future, have been irretreivably lost.".

Hey, what's good for one should be good for all.

Bob. You are correct, but if you read the article (you know, the one titled, " DOL Judge Makes the Right Ruling on Sleazy H-2B Carnival Operator"), you will see it's about -wait for it - wait - carnivals.

Never saw THAT coming.
