East Pembroke house searched by law enforcement

By Billie Owens

A house in the 2500 block of Main Road, East Pembroke, was searched this afternoon after authorities claimed they suspected it could be the site of a meth lab. A subsequent search failed to uncover a meth lab, although the investigation is continuing.

A routine check on a parolee resulted in a conversation wherein a parole officer suspected there could be a meth lab on the property. State police responded and requested the assistance of the East Pembroke Fire Department. An investigation was conducted but no evidence of meth production has been uncovered at this point.

appears to me somebody lied. someone lied to the judge who signed the warrant .they do still need warrants don't they? " they suspected" .... this is not the same country I grew up in.

Actually David, if the residence is that of a parolee, law enforcement doesn't need a warrant to search the premises as the parolee gives up that right as a condition of their parole, and their residence, as well as their person, can be searched without a warrant as requested by the parole officer.

My niece is a parole officer.

If indeed somebody lied and gave seemingly credible information to a parole or police officer that there was a meth lab at that address, there needs to be consequences to the liar. It *is* possible the authorities, from the police to a judge (if involved) did act in good faith, but were duped. Of course, there are other possibilities, too - and that needs to be looked in to.

From what I read on the Daily News about this, it was the parole officer who made a regular home visit with the parolee, and saw what he believed was a meth lab and notified police, who conducted the search.

Brian, you may not agree with the process; however, that is part of the parole/probation system when you're convicted of a crime and receive one or the other. It would be no different if the parolee were still incarcerated and the "screws" did a shake down.

According to update by Video news service it appears there was indeed a meth lab at the residence after all, that was reported 45 min ago.

Appears that leaves the usual anti police crowd looking rather silly and obvious.

I arrived on scene after Alecia had already left and spoke to a lead investigator who told me no meth lab, no arrests. I've asked the Troop PIO for clarification, so until and unless we receive contradictory information from an official source, we're sticking with no meth lab, no arrests.

Nothing on the NYS Police Newsroom site, which is where many media sources receive media releases from, about the arrests listed on the Daily News website yesterday.

Makes me wonder what their source is for the information they reported.

Not to worry Kyle, some people just can't accept the concept that parolees and probationers are subject to unannounced home visits and searches by their P.O.s, which is a condition of parole or probation.

How so David.... I just mentioned what a reputable news source reported. It's not my face the egg is on but theirs.... As for being pro police I won't apologize for that ever. Its people like you David that pick them apart from the outside, but as soon as you need them turn around and ask why they DONT do their job as quick or as efficiently as you think it should be done.

Still haven't heard from the state police, but a person who would know tells me there are two in custody in the Genesee County jail on $10,000 bail a piece. At this point, that's all I know. Kind of PO'd that I was given bum information at the scene.

kyle, " but as soon as you need them turn around and ask why they DONT do their job as quick or as efficiently as you think it should be done."
really kyle? did you get that information from your news source too? you don't know me at all so don't be coming on here telling me or anyone else what I do or don't do. now you go sit in the back till you learn how to show some respect.

LOL David I don't have to know you, your type is a dime a dozen. Always complain about police and how they do their job, but as soon as you or someone you love is a victim, then they don't to enough for you. Just like a pendulum. You want respect then earn it, otherwise deal with it David, I never expect respect from anyone til I have earned it.
