GSO offers String Workshop

GSO TO OFFER STRING WORKSHOP
 
The Genesee Symphony Orchestra is sponsoring its annual String Workshop Saturday, October 17, 2009 from10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church at 300 E. Main Street in Batavia. Members of the GSO are also invited to participate as mentors sitting among the workshop musicians.
 
The workshop is being offered to give experience and opportunity to string players who enjoy playing together with musicians of comparable high ability. Previous orchestral or ensemble experience is not required. Public, private and home-schooled students as well as adults are welcome. There is no age limit - just the desire to play in a group and to improve as a musician.
 
This year’s repertoire will be: Samuel Jones: Elegy for String Orchestra. We also have the honor of our guest artist, WILFREDO DEGLANS, providing us with a master-class from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. 
We are inviting the workshop participants to perform this piece on October 25, 2009 in the GSO concert at GCC Stuart Steiner Theatre.
