Republican woman's group heading to swing states on voter registration drive to stop in Batavia today

By Howard B. Owens

The National Federation of Republican Women are about to embark on a voter registration drive in swing states and the bus tour will stop in Batavia today.

Federation President Carrie Almond is expected at the stop along with federation officers, local elected officials and members of the Genesee County Women's Republican Club.

The purpose of the tour is to convince women in 11 swing states to register Republican and support the Republican's nominee for president, Donald Trump.

The event is at the Old Courthouse from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the public is invited.

Wait...what?? New York is a swing state?

Ummmm, trump has ZERO chance of winning the electoral college vote in New York.

I encourage all voters, whether republican or Democrat to elect Democratic candidates in the down ballot.

Chris Collins has to go, if for no other reason than his support for trump who is a know nothing, narcissistic bigot and has ZERO qualifications to be president of the United States.

How so ... the headline says they are heading to swing states. "Heading to ... " you know?

The story says "are about to embark on a voter registration drive in swing states." ... "are about to ..." you know.

Nothing misleading there.

Howard, I hate to quibble but this quote from the body of the story says, "The purpose of the tour is to convince women in 11 swing states to register Republican......"

You and I both know that New York is not considered a swing state. That's why I thought this wording was odd.

jeff saquella - "between the headline and the story it sure is misleading then"?

Am I reading a different post than you, Jeff?

The only thing I can see "between the headline and the story" are the words "posted by Howard B. Owens in National Federation of Republican Women, Genesee County Women’s Republican Club, GOP, politics, news".

Pray tell, what is confusing about that?

Dave Meyer - I fail to see how what Howard wrote could be misunderstood (except, possibly, because of a lack of reading comprehension).

If Howard had written "The purpose of the tour is to convince women in 11 south-western U.S. states to register Republican......", would you (and, apparently, others) conclude that Howard was saying that NY was a south-western state?

I think it boils down to reading the story, IN ITS ENTIRETY, and then comprehending what was written.

I think the readers that might be confused by the headline appear to have reading comprehension difficulties. Some people just seem a tad too eager to make a fuss about something when there is nothing there but a wild imagination on their part.
