Today's Poll: Should the County declare the Engine House surplus property and sell it?

I'd say wait and see if they are going to be forced to hire more staff by the State of New York. If not, then move the Public Defender's Office to the old court house as planned and move the maintenance staff over to the Highway Dept building. Then surplus the building. but if they are forced to add more Public Defenders or other staff because of the new law related to jyoung offenders, we might need that building.

My apologies for the previous partial comment........that's what happens when the cat walks on the keyboard!!

When there is discussion about moving the offices that currently reside in this building, it has been mentioned that new quarters may have to be built for these employees. Then doesn't that make the building "not surplus"? Do you really think a new building or addition to an existing building would cost less than the $1 million the Engine House is expected to be sold for?

I understand that everyone is trying to revitalize the area but put offices or restaurants in a building with no parking? Put apartments at arguably the busiest intersection in Batavia?

So far the focus has been on blaming each other for this project. New people are being thrown under the bus daily. It's amazing....................I wonder who really came up with this insane idea and waste of time & money.
