Car goes off the roadway on the westbound side of the Thruway

By Howard B. Owens

A vehicle has gone down an embankment on the westbound side of the Thruway in the area of mile marker 391 or 391.

Dispatchers have received several calls and they believe the car was eastbound and crossed over the median and across the westbound lanes.

Unknown injuries.

Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 10:23 p.m.: The vehicle came to rest in the front yard of a residence on Cheryl Lane. Two people are out of the car and apparently uninjured.

UPDATE 10:29 p.m.: All Town of Batavia units back in service.

Something isn't making any sense with the report. If the vehicle was traveling east, crossed the median and westbound lanes, it would've ended up on the north side of the thruway.

If the vehicle was traveling west and crossed the median and eastbound lanes, the vehicle would've had to turn into a magic carpet and flown over the guardrails under the bridge.

The vehicle had to have been traveling east and went off the right shoulder of the thruway and into the lawn on Cheryl lane. There's also a fence between the thruway and the lawns on Cheryl lane so the vehicle would've had to go through that fence.

That's just so weird. They had to have crossed into the eastbound lanes way before the bridge. Check out that guy's hairdoo..right out of some bad 80's rock band..LOL! He kept doing that rooster peck with his head.

I just read the description of accident on a Buffalo website-headed westbound, car hydroplaned, went across median, missed the bridge supports, crossed the eastbound lanes and into fence.....they did get a ticket for unsafe tire.I'd say they oughta buy some lottery tickets-damn lucky no one was hurt.
