Corwin calls out Hochul on Obama's proposed tax increase

By Howard B. Owens

Press Release:

WILLIAMSVILLE – Matthew Harakal, communications director for Jane Corwin for Congress, made the following statement today after Kathy Hochul’s continued silence on how she would cut government spending:

“Now a full week after the President called for a massive $1.5 trillion tax increase, Kathy Hochul still remains silent on the dire financial condition our country is in. Will Kathy Hochul continue to stand with Nancy Pelosi and refuse to do anything to cut spending? Does Kathy Hochul support the President’s plan for $1.5 trillion in crippling tax hikes on Western New York families and small businesses? Or will she follow Jane Corwin’s lead and support cutting spending immediately to strengthen the economy and create jobs. Kathy Hochul has a long tax-and-spend record. As a Hamburg Town Board member she increased the tax burden by 45 percent and later as the Erie County Clerk, she increased spending in the DMV by an incredible 51 percent. When will Kathy Hochul make up her mind and get serious about cutting spending?”

Hochul’s silence comes even after the S&P issued a threat to downgrade our country’s prized AAA credit rating. S&P is one of the three main agencies that rate the ability of companies and countries to repay their debts. It recently cut its outlook for our country’s long-term credit rating from "stable" to "negative," a direct result of the failed leadership from Washington to address our fiscal crisis.

S&P - wasn't this the rating group that COMPLETELY missed the financial meltdown until after the fact, handing out AAA ratings to all of the financial institutions that then nearly or completely collapsed? I will take take their advisement with a large grain of salt, um, make that a a train load of salt!

Republican Jane Corwin her unabashed support for Republican Paul Ryan's budget solution that seeks to reduce America's deficit by privatizing medicare and rplacing it with a voucher that will leave seniors at the mercy of the big insurance corporations. The failed leadership of 8 years of Republican President George W. Bush and and successive Republican majoritiesin both houses of congress are what created this fiscal mess. Once again it's the same old tried and failed policies taht got us here in the first place Corwin and the Republicans embrace. No talk of pulling our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan or billionaires paying their fair share....

Hey Jane, there is a plurality of Americans that believe that shared sacrifice should include the wealthiest, like you, paying your fair share.

According to the latest results in the Washington Post/ABC Poll:

- On Medicare support, 78 percent were opposed to cutting. Jane "Let them have vouchers" Corwin has come out strongly with the 28% that want to privatize. I'm sure that most of the 28% are uber wealthy like Jane, or at least are wannabe's. Why would Jane care about the fate of senior's that weren't lucky enough to be born into privilege.

- On Raising taxes on Americans with incomes above $250,000, 72 percent were in support. Once again Jane speaks loudly for her Spaulding Lake neighbors, but not so much for the average Genesee County wage earner.

Super rich(like Jane)see federal taxes drop dramatically -- http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110417/ap_on_bi_ge/us_no_taxes
But, it isn't quite enough for Jane and her crowd.

Matthew Harakal was Chris 'Shimmy-Shirt' Lee's press secretary. I'm real anxious to listen to anything that larynx-for-hire spews! Is there no escaping this drivel?
