If anyone can patently look like, what i picture a child molester to look like. Its this guy. Note to the government, if you legalize prostitution the sex crimes will almost completely stop. There is a reason its the oldest profession, women wanna sell it, men want to buy it. But yeah lets keep it illegal and make our children targets instead. Its pretty easy to see people, look up the rape/molestation stats for a nation where prostitution is legal, then look at the United Stated stats. Women have been selling it for 8000+ years of history, but yeah they are just gonna stop because you made a law. LOL

Mr. Putnam you are kidding right? First of all even though its not legalized there are prostitutes everywhere. Barring that it is not even slightly difficult for anyone to hook up if they want to. These offenders are gonna offend regardless of what alternatives are available so stop making more excuses for them. As a matter of fact your wrong on two things Christopher....
but first a quote right from my wifes paper on prostitution she did for her psychology degree (which she got high marks on)

"Legal prostitution does not decrease the rapes of women in Nevada. Quite the
opposite. Nevada’s women are raped at rates that are twice that of New York and a fourth
higher than the U.S. average. Women are three times as likely to be raped in Las Vegas as
compared to New York City"

As for what you got wrong.....
1) Prostitution is not the oldest profession in history, slave trading is. and 2)Legalizing prostitution does not reduce sex crimes at all it increases their frequency check http://www.prostitutionresearch.com/laws/000234.html

I think pedophiles are sick people who are fixated on CHILDREN, not people who just want to have sex. Their mindsets are different. An adult prostitute would not necessarily be of interest to them.

Chris, you can't be serious. Pedophiles want kids, not adult women. Like Kyle said, getting with someone is easy. Charlie Sheen had a good philosphy about why he used prostitutes, though. He didn't pay them for the sex, he paid them to leave.

There's only one way to stop a pedophile, maybe 2 ways. Put them into prison forever or put them into a box and cover them with dirt. Anyone that has ever been a victim of a pedophile knows that the memory never goes away. It's a life sentence, every day, over and over. It's like being molested every day even though the pedophile is long gone.

Please, GYHOOYA.

Christopher, pedo's don't get off on the sex, they get off on the power and control they have over their victims.
So please explain how legalized prostitution would have any impact on these sickos.

Frank, pedophiles get off on sex with children. Don't be fooled that it's just a control thing. Children sexually excite them and control of someone weaker may or may not be part of it. If they just wanted to satisfy an urge for control, they'd pick an adult, someone stronger. Dominating a stronger subject is much more satisfying than dominating weakness. Pedophiles want sexual gratification with children, period.

I know the experts love to call it control but that's like calling alcoholism a disease. I don't buy it. Pedophiles are just pervs that get their jollies with kids. Addiction is a choice and nobody can convince me otherwise. I smoked for a long time and realized that I had a choice to quit or not. With a disease, there's no choice. With addiction, there's a choice.

Telling a rapist or a pedophile that it's a crime of control is just giving them an excuse for their behavior. If they just wanted to dominate, overpower and control, they could join an amateur sports team. It's about gratification...sexual gratification. It's how they achieve orgasm, not about victory over a matched opponent.

Yeah i knew there would be dissent. The fact of that matter is, These people are not only desperate for sexual release, but they are also cowards. Thats why they target children. Children cant fight back very well, children can be tricked into lying about if it happened or not. Children are naive.
Im going to have to disagree here, it been proven in the medical and mental community that the large percentage of these people didnt target children because they want sex with a child, they targeted a child because children are easily manipulated, vulnerable, and an "easy target".
The fact is, a grown women likely cannot be tricked, is not naive, and has some physical strength to fight back.
Just like with every other type of crime, you pick a target\victim that you think you can "get away with it".....
Its a sad fact. but men that look the way he does, do not receive alot of attention from women. Which leads to sexual frustration, which like any other kind of frustration, makes some people lash out, or do something stupid. Give these men an out, with prostitution, and the child molesting and rape will decrease significantly. You can cry false all you want. The facts are, nations that have prostitution legal, have 80% less sex crimes. Its a fact. Google it. So yeah lets keep those women from selling what belongs to them......cause its such a good idea. Nations that have prostitution legal have a 0.8% average sexual assault rate. That means that 0.8% of their entire population has been the victim of a sex crime. In the US, its 4.4%. Nuff said.

Those statistics refer to adult on adult sexual assault cases Chris, NOT PEDOPHILIA which is an entirely different animal.

Men and women, yes women too, that prey on children do not do that in seeking sexual release, if you are going to Google, then Google pedophilia and you will ceratinly see where you might be a little off base.

instead of looking up info on definitions we should be looking up how to stop them from being released with basically no supervision. it is like our justice system allowing him to attack again!

Actually Chris, pedophiles target children because they are sexually attracted to them. It has nothing to do with them being cowards or desperate for sex. If you believe anyone is desperate for sex, just watch who has kids the next time you're in Walmart. I'm not trying to stereotype peopleofwalmart.com but it's a good place to people-watch.

It's a known fact that people can be sexually stimulated by just about anything. Frank Zappa wrote a song about plooking a vacuum cleaner (Beavis laugh). Some people are straight, some homosexual, some are bi-sexual and some are pedophiles. Not all pedophiles molest children. Being a pedophile doesn't mean you're a molester. It means you're sexually attracted to, most often, pre-pubescent children. The information is readily available. BTW, there's no conclusive data connecting homosexual men to being predisposed to pedophilia.

Source: health.harvard.edu - "Pedophilia, the sexual attraction to children who have not yet reached puberty, remains a vexing challenge for clinicians and public officials. Classified as a paraphilia, an abnormal sexual behavior, researchers have found no effective treatment. Like other sexual orientations, pedophilia is unlikely to change. The goal of treatment, therefore, is to prevent someone from acting on pedophile urges — either by decreasing sexual arousal around children or increasing the ability to manage that arousal. But neither is as effective for reducing harm as preventing access to children, or providing close supervision."

Pedophilia is all about sexual attraction so I'm not sure where you're getting your erroneous information from: http://www.health.harvard.edu/newsletters/Harvard_Mental_Health_Letter/…

Legalize prostitution in Netherlands, Germany, etc...., is closely monitor, but like stated above, does not eliminate rape. Pedophiles target children because, they have more command and control over a child. A child cannot resist like a young adult/adult.
