Photo: Crews install downtown benches
In another sign it's spring (really, it is), city crews were downtown this morning installing the park benches for the season.
Crew members are Shawn Easton, Shawn McAllister and Rick Reeves.
BTW: It's might snow tonight.
Are the safety vests optional?
I wish they would fill pot holes . Priority list should be updated . Will this be a task for our new assistant manager? His salary alone could put a huge dent in the pot hole dilemma.
WHY ARE THEY STILL INSTALLING THEM BACKWARDS???
I ENJOY EATING AT MAIN ST PIZZA AND HAVE SOMEONE SIT THERE ON THE BENCH OUTSIDE AND STARE AT ME!! LOL!! LIKE I WANT TO SIT AT THE BENCHES STARING AT PARKING LOTS OR BUILDINGS . LOL JUST KIDDING PETE P. AKA (SHOVEL SLAYER)
I would like to know why all the benches are backwards. That is, with your back towards the street. Who wants to sit down and stare at the front of a building ?
Who wants to sit down and stair at somebody's passenger-side car door? The only way they're backwards is if they're facing the street.
Facing the sidewalk means, you know, you might have to actually interact with somebody instead of just gazing at your reflection in a car door.
I also lost the office pool on how many posts it would take before somebody said, "they're backwards." I said by the second post.
I think I'd rather watch the traffic go by (sometimes you see a lot of neat stuff), instead of watching a brick wall. On the other hand, if the brick wall was doing something interesting, I suppose I could watch the wall for awhile.
I kind of like when they place them sideways and face to face. It makes me interact spontaneously and thankfully the people I talk to mostly ignore me and then the bus comes and the losers leave and I sit there waiting for more prey to walk up. I'm sixty, what the hell do you want from me?
I'm glad to see them, regardless which way they face. Sometimes as a pedestrian, it's nice to have the opportunity to take a load off.
I thought the same thing Howard. We have this same conversation every year.
But they aren't they going to be an obstacle for the sidewalk snowplows in a few weeks?
My liberal response: " How wonderful, now neighbors of all races, ages, genders and sexual preference can sit, relax, meditate and absorb the wonders that make Batavia special.
My conservative response: "Oh great, another place for the takers, not makers, to sleep after smoking marijuana."
Cha cha cha.
Well, I guess all the benches in Oakfield are backwards then.
Oakfield has benches? When I lived in Oakfield the bums had to sleep on porches. My porch was a favorite. I had an actual bed up in a third floor flop on Pearl Street for sixty dollars a month. Fine memories and great pizza close by.
GOOD THING ITS A SMALL BENCH ,OTHERWISE I MIGHT OF TAKEN 4-5 GUYS TO ASSEMBLE IT !! INSTEAD OF THREE. TAXPAYER DOLLARS HARD AT WORK!!
