Photos: Snow clean up on Main Street, Batavia

By Howard B. Owens

City DPW workers were busy Monday night in Downtown Batavia. Crews hauled off a good deal of the snow that was blocking walkways between parking and the sidewalk along Main Street. Tim Walton supplied the picture below of the snow removal.

Nice job considering the amount of snow that was there. Thanks!

However, accessibility on Main Street is still a bear. The sidewalks "just off of Main" are also not maintained well at all. There is much parking in those areas. I worry about someone getting hit walking those side streets to an open Main Street sidewalk, including myself.

Don't worry Lisa, in three months it will all be gone for three and a half months. WNY is like a spoonful of wasabi and horseradish with no warning. Me likey, sometimes.

Fuuny, man, George ... and you're right. If we wait long enough, it'll all be gone! Just concerned about safety, that's all. Where I work (on Main Street), persons with disabilities come in and out. It's not a safe area. Talk to you again in the spring!

Lisa, please keep looking out for the folks with disabilities. One of them may be me and that's only part of why I respect the people in my hometown. I hope your Spring comes soon. I'm sick of the cold and it's not even that cold. Of course, when the hot gets here I'll never go outdoors. It's a trade off for sure. Peace dear, keep being nice.
