Today's Poll: Should the Village of Corfu be dissolved?

By Howard B. Owens

As an outsider, it appears to me that all the brouhaha that has transpired recently stem from the village court and the village police dept. Dissolve the village, those 2 entities cease to exist and life goes on. Typically I lean toward government being as close to the people as possible, but in this instance, the town of Pembroke isn't all that big, so I don't think very much local control and input will be lost. It is probably an unnecessary layer in this instance. My opinion is of course, irrelevant. All the facts should be assembled, both pro & con, presented impartially to the residents of Corfu in writing. Time given (30 - 60 days should be sufficient) to discuss and digest, and then have a vote. Ultimately it is Corfu & Pembroke's decision.
