Peter Yasses

Peter Yasses, 81 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (April 27, 2016) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.

He was born June 8, 1934 in Batavia, a son of the late Steven and Helen Bachulak Yasses.

Peter was a firefighter for the City of Batavia Fire Department for over 23 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed car races, spending his summers with his family at Conesus Lake and was a member of the Polish Falcons, former St. Nicholas Social Club and V.F.W. Veness Strollo Post #1602.  He enjoyed his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

Peter was predeceased by his wife, Jane Yasses, who died June 9, 2013.

Survivors include his son, Peter (Michelle) Yasses of Byron. Daughters, Kim (late Cliff) White of Batavia and Lisa (Buddy) Ogden of Greece. Sister, Rose Marie Yasses of Batavia. Brothers, Joseph (Marianne) Yasses of Buffalo and Richard Yasses of Batavia. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, special cousins of the Szymanski family, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Sunday (May 1st) from 1-3pm & 5-8pm at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 BOGUE AVE., BATAVIA, where his funeral service will be Monday at 11:00am. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
