  Douglas G. McDanel, age 66 of Perry passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016 at his home.
Doug was born in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania on July 28, 1950 to the late Raymond and Andrea (Dunsieth) McDanel. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a granddaughter; Mallory R. McDanel.

Doug was a graduate of Churchville Chili High School and attended Roberts Wesleyan College. He was a self employed artist owning and operating Cornucopia Frame Shop in Perry. Mr. McDanel was an active member of the Baptist Church of Perry where he was the sound man for 30 years. He was the current curator for the The Stowell-Wiles Art Gallery located at the Perry Public Library. He attended many conferences in Japan and Texas for the Dard Hunter Conference of Paper Making. He was a proud member of the Rochester Botanical Garden Club and the Arts Council for Wyoming County. He enjoyed gardening, painting, paper making, framing art, traveling and camping.

He is survived by his loving wife Jacqueline (Tuttle) McDanel whom he married on July 7, 1973; 2 daughters, Megan (James) Samaniego of Pomona, CA and Caitlin McDanel of Seattle WA;  a son Ryan (Kimmie) McDanel of Perry; a brother Bruce McDanel of Durham, NC; brother-in-law William (Donna) Tuttle of Hamburg; granddaughter Sage Helen Samaniego; nieces Whitney Klasic and Brittany Cavenaugh; nephews Bill and Geoff Tuttle

There will be no prior visitation. A Celebration of Doug’s Life will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at The Baptist Church of Perry. 77 North Main Street Perry, NY 14530.

Any monetary donations will be used for the upkeep of Douglas's authentic Japanese garden at 45 Watrous Street Perry, NY 14530.
