Richard Leslie Hyde

Richard Leslie Hyde, 82, of Tavares Florida and Byron and Alexander, New York passed away peacefully in his home of Friday, September 23, 2016 with his wife of 60 years, Joanne, at his side. He was born January 21, 1934 in Batavia, New York to the late Fred and Mildred Chandler Hyde. Richard graduated in 1953 from Batavia High School and Metal Trades Vocational School. He worked for Graham Manufacturing for three years and then started an apprenticeship in 1956 at Doehler Jarvis. On April 21, 1956 he married Joanne Gerould. Rich was drafted into the U.S. Army in December of 1956. He had basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey and continued training on offset press at Fort Belvoir, Virginia and then served in Tokyo for 18 months. 
Rich was discharged from the Army in December of 1958 and returned to Doehler Jarvis to finish his apprenticeship and became a Tool and Dye maker. He left Doehler Jarvis in 1969 and went to Eastman Kodak Company as a Master Mold Maker. He retired in January of 1991 to Tavares, Florida. For many years Rich enjoyed hunting in the Adirondacks, Fishing on Lake Ontario and vacationing at Cranberry lake. He will be missed by his loving wife Joanne; his two children, Debra (Bob) Spiers of Alexander, New York, and Richard Hyde Jr (Terri Steger) of Batavia, New York; Two grandchildren, Samantha Jo (Keith) Stevenson of Waterloo, New York and Daniel Spiers of Alexander, New York; Two sisters, Joyce Kuehl and Marjorie (William) Reiss; Two brothers, Ralph Hyde and Fred (Sandra) Hyde. In memory of Rich, donations may be made for First United Methodist Church - 8221 Lewiston Road - Batavia, New York 14020 and to Alexander Fire Department – “New Ambulance Fund” - 10505 Main Street - Alexander, New York 14005.
