Age 59, of Batavia, died peacefully Tuesday morning February 14, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was born June 26, 1957 in Buffalo, NY a son of Mary Wingate of LeRoy and Ralph (Marta) Gardner of Wilson, NY. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Marie Yingling and sister-in-law, Kathy Yingling   

Ken served his country honorably with the USAF Security Police Squadron from 1976 thru 1995, he then spent a short time as a toll collector on the NYS Thruway before becoming a Communications Specialist with the New York State Police, Troop A, from 1998 thru March 2016 as his health declined. His life revolved around his own family, his military family and his State Police family, he had a love for the outdoors, especially fishing and trips to Alleghany State Park. 

Surviving along with his parents is his beloved wife of 35 years, Susan (Yingling) Gardner of Batavia and their loving daughters, Jacquelyn and Michelle both of Batavia; his cherished grandchildren, Lathan, Gianna & Gabriella; sisters, June Embert of DE, Janice (Luis) Cotto of Batavia, Susan (Steve) Patruska of Oklahoma; father-in-law, James Yingling of Eden, NY; sisters & brothers-in-law, Tina (Dave) Cole, Marian Engle, Steve (Leslie) Yingling, Dave (Grace) Yingling, Theresa (Joe) Buziak, Jane (Dan) Lochner along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.  

The Gardner family will be present from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. on Friday February 17 at the MICHAEL S. TOMASZEWSKI FUNERAL & CREMATION CHAPEL, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, NY 14020, please join Ken's family to celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. Saturday Feb. 17 at Resurrection Parish (St. Mary's Site) followed by Full Military Honors. He will be laid to rest in the future National Cemetery being constructed in Pembroke and in lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Friends of Strong Memorial Hospital 601 Elmwood Ave. Box 660 Rochester, NY 14642.
