Age 88, formerly of Holley and Lyndonville, NY died peacefully on Tuesday morning February 20, 2018 at Oak Manor Senior Living in Largo, FL. He was born March 6, 1929 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Maynard and Georgia (O'Connor) Martin also preceded in death by brother, Richard Martin and sister, Patricia Harter.                                                                               

John graduated from Holley High School and attended the Rochester Business Institute, he served his country honorably as a Sergeant during the Korean Conflict (White Sands Proving Grounds) and also served in the National Guard. In 1984 he retired from the Eastman Kodak Co. after 34 years of service in the Emulsion Division. He was a member of the Holley and Seminole American Legions, enjoyed travelling, camping and time spent with his family. John was a tireless volunteer who logged more than 15,000 hours of service between the Batavia and Bay Pines VA Hospitals along with many volunteer hours at Notre Dame High School. 

Surviving is his High School Sweetheart whom he shared 65 years of marriage with this past December, Mary Anne (Davis) Martin of FL; their 6 loving children, Michelle Martin, Mary Elizabeth (Joseph) Teresi all of Batavia, Michael J. (Cynthia) Martin of Webster, Timothy J. (Ayron) Martin of MD, Peter J. Martin of FL and the late Kathleen Martin-Norman in 2012; 11 very special grandchildren, Lindsey, Kiel, Johnathan, Robert, Kaitlyn, Logan and Hunter Martin, Megan Norman, Joseph, Michael & Paul Teresi; 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild expected this April along with 2 nieces and 4 nephews. 

John's wishes were for no visitation and burial will be in St. Columba's Cemetery in Caledonia at a later date. Memorials in his memory are suggested to Notre Dame High School 73 Union Street Batavia, NY 14020.
