John T. Higgins

John T. Higgins born December 15, 1953 in Batavia NY passed away June 15, 2018.  He left behind his wife of 31 years Barbara E. Higgins and two daughters Karie A. Matteson (Tracy) from MA. And Kimberly J. Snyder from Alexander NY.   Six grandchildren Alexandra Matteson, Joshua Matteson, Summer Snyder, Daniel Knoepfler, Byranna Snyder and Jacob Knoepfler.  Two great grandchildren Abigail and Emma from California. Two brothers James Higgins of California and Douglas Higgins (Barbara) from Pifford NY.     

John had dual citizenship here in USA and Ireland.  He was very proud of where his family came from, he enjoyed visiting Ireland were his grandmother had lived in Cappoquin Ireland.  John had an Associate’s degree from Genesee Community College and a Bachelor’s degree from Buffalo University in Business and made his career in the Land Mobil Industries starting with Motorola. He then worked for Sinclair Radio where he was a national salesman’s.  John then decided to become an independent rep and rep many different companies such as Maxrad, TXRX, Multiplier, Webster and Sigma.  John retired in 2016.  John was inducted into the Radio Club of America in Nov 21, 2008 as a follow.  In 2009 John and the Attica baseball team of 1972 were inducted into the Attica hall of fame.  In 2010 he also received a certificate of recognition for pitching an undefeated baseball for the 1972 season from the Attica Hall of fame. John like to spend time in his back yard with his dog Trixie and his wife Barb, he also like to take his dog Trixie to the park every day for a walk no matter what the weather was like.  He hunted and fished since he was a kid.  John liked to travel to different places like Germany and Ireland.  He did route 1 in California, John also like to spend time in Florida.  John was on the County Planning Broad and the Attica Town Planning Broad.   John took both of these position very seriously and enjoyed being part of a team that made a difference.  

Calling Hours will be Wednesday June 20, 2018 11:00AM-1:00PM and 4:00-7:00PM at Marley Funeral Home, LLC. 135 Main Street Attica, New York 14011. An 11:00 Funeral Service will be held on Thursday the 21st at the Funeral Home.  John will be laid to rest in St. Vincent’s Cemetery.
