Tompkins Insurance appoints Katelyn Fowler as training team leader

Creating and filling a newly developed position within the company, Tompkins Insurance Agencies has named Katelyn Fowler training team leader. In this post, Fowler will onboard all newly hired commercial insurance account managers and account executives to ensure that all programs, processes, and procedures align with the company’s high standards of excellence. She will also train and share client service practices with current employees as the agency’s standards and client needs evolve. Fowler will report out of the Ithaca headquarters and work with teams across all Tompkins Insurance Agencies offices in Central New York, Western New York, and Southeast Pennsylvania.

Fowler is an insurance industry veteran with more than 15 years of commercial lines expertise. Ten years of that experience took place at Tompkins Insurance Agencies where, as commercial lines marketing specialist, she fostered relationships with underwriters to help achieve agency goals, assisted producers and the small business team with market and insurance knowledge, and oversaw a large book of business for the agency. She returns to Tompkins Insurance Agencies after serving as commercial lines marketing manager for Reagan Companies in Marcellus, New York, where she managed a team of account executives and handled carrier relations.

Five years on top: Tompkins Insurance honored as a 'best practices' agency

In a significant milestone, Tompkins Insurance Agencies has been designated a “Best Practices” Agency, recognizing it as part of an elite group of independent insurance agencies across the United States for the fifth consecutive year. The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA or the Big “I”) has included the Batavia-based agency in its “Best Practices” group for five years running. After a full review of its financial stability and operational excellence, Tompkins Insurance was one of the 282 agencies to qualify, chosen from more than 2,600 independent agencies nationwide that were nominated. 

The Big “I” and Reagan Consulting of Atlanta, GA have collaborated since 1993 to conduct this annual study of industry-leading independent insurance agencies. The study focuses on business practices including revenue growth and profitability, financial stability, expense management, and sales and operations productivity.

This recognition joins another: Tompkins Insurance has again been ranked #79 of the Top 100 commercial insurance agencies in the U.S., by Insurance Journal.

Tompkins Insurance again ranked among nation's top agencies

Tompkins Insurance Agencies has again been named among the Top 50 Personal Insurance Agencies in the nation by Insurance Journal. This is Tompkins Insurance Agencies’ third consecutive appearance on Insurance Journal’s top 50 list, with a 2022 ranking of 45. 

Agencies included on the 2022 Personal Lines Leaders list are taken from Insurance Journal’s Top 100 Property/Casualty Independent Agencies as reported in August. Agencies are ranked by total 2021 personal lines property/casualty insurance revenue.
