Zonta Club seeks personal care items for female vets and domestic violence victims

The Zonta Club of Batavia-Genesee County is seeking donations for their current community project of Personal Care Packages being assembled for both victims of domestic violence and for female veterans.

Items needed to complete care packages are: Full-size shampoo, full-size conditioner, lotions, toothpaste, dental floss, deodorant, female sanitary items, tissues, journals, socks, nail polish, hairbrushes/combs, and shower loofahs. Zonta Club of Batavia-Genesee’s goal is to assemble a total of 100-200 care packages.

BHS Z-Club is collecting unwrapped toys and cash donations for Toy Drive

​​This is the fourth year the Batavia High School Z-Club will be doing a Toy Drive for the YWCA.
 
BHS students will be collecting unwrapped toys for area children through Thursday, Dec. 14th.
 
As students and parents arrive at BHS in the morning between 7:30-8 a.m., Z-Club members will be in the traffic circle collecting toys and financial contributions to help purchase toys.
 
Your donations will help to make this season a little brighter for some little girls and boys!
 
The Z-Club is affiliated with Zonta International, a service organization for young women and men that provides service for international, national, local and school initiatives. 

Zonta Club seeks donations of full-size personal care items to distribute to domestic violence victims

The local Zonta Club of Batavia-Genesee County is seeking donations for their project assemblying personal care bags for victims of domestic violence.

Zonta Club of Batavia will be assembling the packages in late October and working with the local YWCA to distribute them.

Items needed for the care packages are: Toothpaste, floss, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hair brush & accessories, razors, shaving cream, feminine products, deodorant, journals, pens, Q-Tips, socks, loofahs, nail polish.

All donations need to be regular-size bottles, please no travel size. All donations can be dropped off to Beth Kemp at T-Shirts Etc, 37 Center St., Batavia.

You may also choose to donate monetarily to assist with purchasing the items needed.

All checks should be made out to: Zonta Club of Batavia-Genesee County and mailed to Zonta Domestic Care Project, 3977 W. Main Street Road, Batavia, NY 14020.

Zonta Club seeks money, toiletries and more for project to help 500 local domestic violence victims

The Zonta Club of Batavia-Genesee County is assembling personal care packages for victims of domestic violence and is working with the YWCA to distribute 500 bags.

The club is seeking donations to assist in the project. If you could contribute one or more items from the list below, it would be greatly appreciated!

  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrushes
  • Dental floss
  • Mouthwash
  • Lotion
  • Hairbrushes/combs/hair accessories
  • Shaving cream
  • Disposable razors
  • Deodorant
  • Journals/pens/pencils
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Cotton balls
  • Q-Tips
  • Socks
  • Loofahs
  • Emery boards
  • Nail polish remover

***Volunteers will be assembling the bags at the Dibble Family Center in Batavia from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday Oct. 21.

You could also opt to make a tax-deductable donation of $50/$100/$150/$200 to help purchase items needed.

Zonta Club of Batavia announces scholarships and awards

The Zonta Club of Batavia Genesee County presented its annual scholarships and awards to several local seniors during a ceremony in May at the Dibble Family Center.

The Muriel Pies Art Scholarship was awarded to Batavia High School student  Marissa Carbonell. She plans to attend Nazareth College for Theater and Music.

Jessica Colopy is from Oakfield-Alabama High School and is the recipient of a Zonta Scholarship. Jessica will be attending Columbia College pursuing a degree in Political Journalism.

Kelsey Milligan of Pavilion High School received a Zonta Scholarship and will be attending Nazareth College and pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy.

Briana Parker of Batavia High School is the recipient of a Zonta Scholarship. She will be attending Genesee Community College with a transfer to SUNY Fredonia in pursuit of a Criminal Justice degree.

The Mabel Ellis Math Scholarship was awarded to Jordyn Doran, of Pavilion High School. Jordyn who will be attending SUNY Geneseo and will be majoring in Math and Business Administration.

This year the Belva Meyer Scholarship was received by Elizabeth Bolton.  Elizabeth will be attending SUNY Geneseo, and will be pursuing a degree in Child Psychology.

The Ann Robertson Scholarship has been awarded  to Natalie Moulton of Notre Dame High School. Natalie will be attending the University of Notre Dame, majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Business.

The Winnie Legg Scholarship is awarded to Jessica Meyers of Alexander High School. Jessica will be attending Nazareth College pursuing a degree in Occupational Therapy.

The Z-Club Special Award was presented to Ivana Marroquin of Batavia High School. Ivana will be attending John Jay College and will be pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice.
