Police looking for solicitor on Burke Drive of free vacuuming service

By Billie Owens

City police are responding to an address on Burke Drive after it was reported that a young female, approximately 20 years old, was in the area soliciting free vacuuming service. A white vehicle, unfamiliar to the caller, was reported to be parked on the street, however it is now gone.

Don't know, Beth, I heard nothing more about it. But I do know that Kirby vacuum cleaners are peerless in performance. Unfortunately, they are also quite expensive.

In another jurisdiction I heard a story of a lady who would break into people's homes, clean them and then leave a bill.

She was eventually caught and charged with burglary after a person was in fact home one day. The resident stayed up stairs the whole time working on something thinking her aunt or sister or something was downstairs vacuuming, then came down stairs and found this unknown person in her house.

People some times have strange ideas about how to get ahead.

She was at my house, with the white car. I asked her where she was from (thinking she was an out of state college student) and she said she lived on Oak St. Maybe I should have asked to see her permit. I still have her brochure.
