Thanks Steve, just the way I feel. Very fed up with our recent increase in crime. Why shouldn't the parents be held accountable. For that matter Their names should be published once charges are filed.

Hey Brenda, it was about 5:30pm when this happened, right? Kids are outside playing as far as their parents know and it's summertime. Would you want the parents arrested if they whipped their kid's ass for being arrested? Society doesn't allow parents to take care of business anymore. There was a time when kids feared the wrath of dad's belt, and they would think twice before doing crap like this.

Dough, I parented 4 children the majority of the time as a single parent. I worked very hard to make sure my children behaved at all times especially when they were out on their own.
3 out of the 4 are all productive employed tax paying members of this community. The fourth is a student.

This whole "Society doesn't allow parents to take care of business anymore" is a cop out. There are other methods to discipline children as well as just provide supervision and activities.
Our community is full of free and low cost opportunities for a fun filled Summer. The majority require parental involvement.
The basic know your child's friends, know their parents, hand out your contact info to neighbors so if there is an issue you can be made aware.

All I ask is that the parents of these children man up and parent their child. And if it takes they themselves being arrested to get that point across then so be it.

I grew up as one of three kids being raised by a single mom. I know how difficult it was for my mother, and I also know that some kids are just dicks. You did say to arrest the parents. Just because a kid gets into trouble doesn't mean their parent or parents weren't parenting. If your kids turned out great, good for you. You did something right, and you got lucky. In some instances, the kids might be in trouble because of neglect, but in other cases, maybe not. Saying something like "arrest the parents" is a heavy blanket to throw, don't you think?
