A New Chapter

By Bea McManis

I truly believe that when one door closes another opens.

There is a sense of anticipation; fear; and something that excites one's inner core when standing at that threshold.  It is a leap of faith to walk through it and discover what is on the other side.

That door has opened before.  The virtual concrete walls that blocked it have fallen several times.  Each time, the walls go back, much stronger than before.

Today, the walls are down.  Past shackles are locked in a room best not revisited.

Today is the first day of a new chapter.

Day 2
Had a wonderful time at brunch at Terry Hills.
The day was somewhat dreary when we arrived but the sun came out and sky cleared making the view of the course beautiful.
Kudos to the family who brought six or seven young, well behaved kids for brunch. It was a treat to see so many little kids enjoying their meal and not disrupting the other diners.
The food was incredible. It had to be, we never even touched the dessert table.
It was an invigorating way to start a Sunday morning. Lively, intelligent conversation that touched on a variety of subjects.

Day 3
Sometimes concessions have to be made to create harmony.
When someone is told that 14 months of their life never happen, it is like being sucker punched. The bile rises and it is difficult to keep in control of one's functions.
There are issues even more important than one's emotions. Thus the concession to agree to erase those 14 months from the books.
In return for living that lie, harmony is restored.
I did receive two very nice notes today. One from the friend with whom I had brunch on Sunday and one from a delightful friend with whom I'll be sharing dinner on Thursday night.

Day 4
Training new people; working on schedule; looking ahead.

Day 5
Finished training two people today. They are both going to work out well.
Dropped off the vendor list.
Received two invitations to participate in events in May and June. They both sound like fun.
Looking forward to dinner on Thursday night.
Great weather, great day.

Day 6
Great dinner at Applebee's. Tried their 550 calorie steak dinner. It was very good.
My dinner partner was a joy. Great conversationalist who could speak with authority on many things.
A buying trip for the shop is coming soon. None too soon, the shelves are looking mighty sparse.
WII Bowling this morning saw three of our bowlers greatly improved. The Thursday morning group is coming together.
The newsletter is almost done.
I put in a request for a different apartment. I can't wait to see if I can get it.

I just happened to be in the Cyberspace neighborhood so I dropped by to say hi. You say you got a lot done on day seven. That's fantastic, I can barely remember when I last got a lot done. Obviously, I don't try as hard as you do Bea, and that earns my respect. Plus, I love the conspiracy theory about the the low number County plates. Obviously there is some credence to it, but it sounds nefarious and sinister, I like that. Too bad John Gardner isn't still around, it would make a great subplot for a novel.
