The Impending Global Warming (non) Crisis

posted by Jeff Allen in President Obama, Global Warming, copenhagen.

As the Climate Change Global Warming Inconvenient Truth Doomsday summit in Copenhagen kicks off this week, I thought I'd post this video of British Lord Christopher Monckton interviewing a Greenpeace protester on global warming.  The exchange is refreshingly polite given the level of disagreement.  I believe this woman typifies the degree of actual knowledge and faith many have in what is being fed to them by mainstream media and political organizations.

The video is approximately 10 minutes long and I give the woman credit for hanging in there despite the facts.

Howard, I'm not sure why the video doesn't embed properly but this is the URL for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cN6_RYAP8WA

It's showing correctly now. So, just curious, have you gone and checked the resources he's saying to check? I'd do it now myself, but I don't have time at the moment. Maybe tomorrow. Fascinating video, though.

Thanks for fixing that. No, I haven't checked them but a cursory check of who Lord Monckton is pretty well established his credibility. I know that's not bulletproof, but,the video was timely and I was willing to take a chance on it. I hope you'll consider bumping it to the main page to start some discussion because items tend to get lost in the blog pages. Thanks again for overcoming my lack of technical prowess.

I totally believe that there is Global Warming. The earth has a fever, and it is effecting weather patterns, and melting the Arctic Circle. I think those who dont think there is a problem need to do a little more research into it. You will be suprised at your fact findings.

Karen, how do you "totally believe" there is Global Warming when the facts have been clearly refuted as presented in the video and can be backed up at the Universities in charge of the data and the NOAA?

While I still run non-local polls (it's hard to come up with local poll questions every day), I've been shying away from posts about non-local issues on the home page. If you watch my own blog, you'll once in a while see I post things that are non-local in nature, but I don't put on the home page.

The problem with the global warmers is they try to use our lifetime as a meaningful time scale. Over a geological time frame ie billions of years, the earth has gone through several warming and cooling periods lasting thousands of years and humans had absolutely nothing to do with any of it.

Jeff, with all due respect, Im not going to base my opinion, on the opinion of others in a video. As Richard said the earth has gone through cycles of warming and cooling. The scientific proof lies with the scientists studying these problems. HAARP has been experimenting with the ozone layer, and atmosphere for years. (I have heard) that they are experimenting with changing and manipulating the weather. (I think that is dangerous)Have they succeeded?? Who knows.. They are the ones who found the evergrowing hole in the ozone. Polution, the devistation of the Rain Forest, and depletion of the earths resources, are the main causes for the global warming. The government knows whats going on, they just choose to "Blow it off" as a myth. I say, that will be our downfall. Failing to recognize the problems, take them seriously, and take action to save the earth. I want my children to have "her" to enjoy for years to come. Again, just my opinion...

Actually Jeff, sorry to go here, but a cursory check of this guy Monckton shows him to be a crank and an embellisher of his own background. http://www.buzzle.com/articles/116032.html http://www.monbiot.com/archives/2009/12/10/ukips-latest-acquisition/ Again, Sorry, but thanks for making me research further into the global warming/Climate change issue, I'm learning a lot.

Great job of debunking Lord Monckton... using buzzle.com. Along with a biased slant on this guy let me list a few other titles of their latest riveting articles: *Nose Piercing Aftercare *Formal Dresses for Juniors *Eyebrow Piercing Infection *Italian Last Names *How to Avoid Pregnancy *Miley Cyrus Covering Poison’s "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" *Taylor Lautner Hangs with SNL Cast Until 4 AM *Lose Lower Belly Fat And using George Monbiot at monbiot.com to debunk Lord Monckton is like using Al Gore, hardly an unbiased source. I'm not claiming to be a disciple of Lord Monckton but the guy states in his debates, don't believe me, check the data for yourself and provides clear, credible sourcing.

Much like Gore, Monckton is not an unbiased paricipant in this debate. If you won't listen to one side's ideologue then logically you shouldn't give the other's any credence either. As far as I know, no one who frequents this site is a biochemist, environmental scientist, meteorologist or even a small town weatherman. I know where I stand on this issue, not that it matters to anyone who already holds a strong opinion one way or the other. So let's forget climate change for a minute and simply recognize that when we pollute, we stand to ruin our own water and food sources, we put our children at risk for ailments and diseases that they would never have to fear in a clean environment and that we should simply be good stewards of the world we live in.

Seems like Carbon is the blame for this whole Global Warming debate..Where's all the talk about dumping of chemicals in lakes and rivers.Look at Mexico, what they are doing to ruin our planet..They dump more crap into the Rio Grande, and this isn't even part of the debate.Or all the trash we produce..Why ,because there is no money in it for governemnt to collect..Carbon credits is the new key word of the day..Blame it all on Carbon..Thats why these Global warmers are losing their credibity in this debate..Plus they are getting caught in lies..

I agree that Monckton is clearly to one side on this issue, but at least he sources his facts and challenges listeners to do their own fact-checking. That is all one can ask in a true debate.

Buzzle was not a great choice, I admit. I haven't had any more time to research Monckton further. It seems everyone on the internet either loves him or hates him. Anyway, I do find the subject interesting and I promise, Jeff to do more of my own fact checking you make a good point, probably won't be until this evening. Cheers (in honor of Monckton)
