The White House...we are looking for a few good snitches.

By Jeff Allen

This is a quote from our President speaking on those who attempt to expose the realities of the healthcare plan.

“There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end-of-life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain e-mails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an e-mail or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.”

What exactly is the White House going to do with the information they gather on these e-mailers and website creators?  This is not about clarification of the facts, this is about building a database of dissenters.  This should put to rest all the talk about former presidential abuses of power.  This president has overreached his authority more in 6 months, than any other president in history.  Mr. President, members of both houses, please stop the rhetoric and give the American people the transparency promised during the campaign.

I thinks its important not to forget about the abuse of power of former presidents. There is very little difference between either party.
just 2 examples

The current party in power was all upset that the patriot act was passed so quickly and was not legal. Now they're in power and all they did was add things to the patriot act and pay lawyers to make it legal.

The former president's party ran on a smaller government platform then quickly increased the size and cost of government 60%. Now that party is having "Tea Parties" all over the country to protest this governments excessive spending.

Its taken both parties to devalue the dollar by 97% in the last 100 years. Both parties have started unnecessary wars, both parties have started expensive government programs to solve problems with zero results other than to create taxpayer funded jobs. We need to stop giving a pass to the party we support and be more critical when there in power.

Even though there are examples from both parties, what the former President did was historically parallel to other actions taken during similar circumstances in our Nation's history.

Terry, I couldn't agree more about being more critical when our party is in power. No one knows better then you that we don't always agree. Too often I think people take "checks and balances" to mean when one is in power the other can be the balance. You're right, things are so partisan that we all we do is attack harshly or defend passionately. There seems to be no middle ground. When one team has the ball, all they want to do is play keep away and run up the score. It always appears to be the Right versus the Left and never the Right and the left. All our officials were elected to represent more than just %40 of us at a time. Checks and balances is between us and our government, not the Right vs the left.
