Hearts from Heaven

By Susan Brownell

After the rain Thursday evening, my daughter found this among the dry spots in the driveway.  An almost perfect heart.  Thursday was July 2nd...  if my little brother were still alive, it would have been his 31st birthday.   I know it's silly, but we like to think that this heart was sent from him.

That's not a silly thought.

I had a hard time dealing with my grandfather's death a few years ago. I started seeing him in my dreams. I was especially upset because I was not able to attend his funeral where the grandsons were the pallbearers. I am the oldest and should have been leading the casket to the grave site. Through the dreams I dealt with it and at one point he said goodbye to me and that he still had to help Grandma. It seemed that after that dream, funerals on TV didn't get to me anymore and I was back to my old self.

Sure it could be in our heads, but its not silly to believe.

Susan, that is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
My mother always said that if you found a penny on the ground that it meant someone close to you, who had passed, was sending you their love.

I'd like share something...I was at a meeting, not that long ago, with about 6 or 7 people for a committee I was on.I brought my daughter to the meeting with me, hoping to show her a little of what grown ups do for work (she's 4 years old). Anyhow, my daughter was drawn to a particular woman at this meeting. My daughter drew her pictures and sat on her lap, entertaining her.

I thought nothing of that moment until the night of our event, when the woman approached me asking how my daugther was doing. She then told me that the day my daughter came to our meeting was also the woman's birthday. She said she had been feeling really low that day missing her son, who had died a few years earlier. She told me that my daughter made her feel better because she felt maybe her son was there too that day.

The earthly journey we are are is not the beginning, nor the end, of our existence. Rather, it's a stop on the train of eternity. Thanks for the great stories. I love waking up and reading something positive for a change.
