Cow in the road in Le Roy, heading toward Batavia

By Howard B. Owens

A cow has been reported in the road on Route 5, just past Le Roy Motors, walking west toward Batavia.

I got a good chuckle out of this too. If jay leno got a copy of a police report i bet they would read that on his show (former show). Who says Howard dont have a sense of humor ?

nah, just looking for 15 minutes of fame. Woody last year, the calf in Oakfield (did they every conquer that one?) and now this one.
We seem to have a plethora of wandering bovine...maybe they know something we don't.

They are shy becoz of the hoof and mouth stigma and they dont want to be labeled as mad cow . You would be running away if everyone was pulling at ur teet !

We've had two spammer attacks today. We get hit by spam once or twice a week and I delete the posts as soon as I spot them -- usually they're "buy cell phones cheap" posted in the classifieds. Today's attacks were a dozen posts by two different accounts. The accounts have been blocked and the posts deleted. Spammers who hit this site are wasting their time because not a lot of time passes, usually, before I spot the posts and delete them.

Howard, can you purchase Norton or some kind of protection for your computer. We bought Norton Internet Security from Walmart. It works great, and catches all kind of hijackers. Pretty much every attempt.

As David said, this has nothing to do with virus.

We have protections in place to prevent automated spam.

But because it's so hard now to get automated spam on sites like this, spammers now hire low-wage workers in India (I'm not kidding about this) to manually place spam on sites.

We had AVG before the Norton. It caught some things, but was unable to get the biggest threats. I like my Norton { The latest version},and if you have never purchased and used it, then I guess you wouldn't know, now would yah. so nananabooboo lol
Howard, I wasn't in on the Walmart Bashing Blogg Fest, so I didnt know about your dislike for the store. Try Office Max.

No, my hubby handles all that technical stuff. All I know is after repeat attempts to get the virus out of the comp with AVG, to no avail, we purchased Norton, and it zapped it. Havent seen it since. The virus would want you to download a virus scanner, and the window would pop-up and try to start running. The comp would freeze, and all these windows would start popping up. There are alot of these out there, and being that we do all our banking online, we cant take any chances.

I'm on a Mac. I don't need Norton or AVG. And, again, computer viruses have nothing to do with spam on this site. That's like saying get the oil changed in your car to keep from getting the flu.

And Office Max is no better than Wal-Mart. That said, I don't believe any of the local computer stores carry much in the way of computer software (Marchese has some), so Office Max might be unavoidable if I needed anti-virus software.

What I have done to help combat the spam -- after another 50 posts overnight -- is require administrator approval for new accounts. That will help keep the spammers out.

Good deal Howard. I just got off the phone with hubby, and he told me AVG only gets the Maleware, and wasn't getting the other hyjackers. He said Norton isnt foolproof, but gets the stuff AVG does not. Howard if there is anything we can do to help, just ask.
