Emory Upton's monument getting a little unexpected sprucing

By Howard B. Owens

Police are responding to Emory Upton's monument at Ellicott and Main.

A woman is there moving around mulch and fiddling with plants, telling a person there that she is cleaning up her father's grave.

Karen Miconi

Howard , there is a woman that I've been observing, hanging around the park benches near city hall. The poor thing talks to herself, spits over and over, smokes cigs really weird, and frantically, and seems to be mentally sick. I wonder of its her.

Dan: just trying to understand you're posting, is he on street drugs or prescription? What is a payee?

I agree that if someone is mentally ill it's sad.. if someone is drunk in public.... it can be funny if it's a "whoops", had 1 too many out w/friends(and not driving) but sad if they have a problem.

We all have our Joneses, Jones, leave Howard alone. Roses smell better than you do. I know that as a fact and I have never even met you. I meant Jones, not you Howard. You smell smell like roses on a summer's eve in June and everyone knows it and we like it that way.

Laura mental patients are given prescription meds.Haldol is a very powerful drug.A payee helps pay a persons bills and takes care of their finances for them to help them.

Regarding the roses comments, if Howard wants to take care of mine while his renting and does not have any of his own.. feel free brother (LOL)...I planted 1 last year, it has many flowers this year but is gangly and tall. (trying to figure out pruning) My other rose bush is a new transplant this year and is in shock still. I have a huge perenial garden, thought I'd try roses.. yikes. Much respect to Howard.

Pruning depends on the bush. A hybrid tea will get stocks pruned down to less than a foot tall. A shrub rose doesn't get pruned as hard. A floribunda is somewhere in between.

My transplanted roses (12 of them) have all survived so far.
