Lake effect snow watch announced for Wednesday and Thursday

By Howard B. Owens

Lake effect snow is forecast for at least parts of Genesee County on Wednesday afternoon and into Thursday.

Where snowfall is the heaviest, there could be up to a foot of accumulation.

The National Weather Service said the current pattern indicates lake effect snow hitting southern Genesee County, and possibly Batavia, but a slight change in wind direction could push the storm further north with Batavia getting the heaviest accumulation. Then again, a wind direction change could push the storm further south.

LOL Peter, you would rock people's sense of reality with that type of editorial. IMHO everyone probably has lived in NYS long enough to realize that weather forcasting is only slightly worse than rolling dice. In my experience I have seen 2 inches of snow fall in Aug and had shorts and tank tops on in Feb. So nothing surprises me. Most people I think stick to looking what the next few hours holds in store rather than what tomorrow is gonna be :)

If you live in WNY pack sunglasses, a beach chair, a shovel, and a snow brush when leaving the house no matter what the month! :)
Personally I am ready for some serious snow! I mean the kind you have to nearly break your back to shovel! I have three little ones that are pretty ready for snow pants too!
So Howard if you have any pull with Mother Nature send some my way!

Farther north/south, not further.
FARTHER denotes physical advancement in distance.
FURTHER denotes advancement to greater degree, as in time.
