Paterson threatens massive tax increase to balance budget

By Howard B. Owens

This morning's Buffalo News story contains an exceptionally scary phrase:

Gov. David A. Paterson on Tuesday to threaten ... the prospect of billions of dollars in tax hikes on residents to help balance the moribund budget.

Paterson is also planning to cut more than 8,000 jobs from the 141,000 in the executive branch.

So is New York going to test just how high taxes can go before it completely kills the economy?

You have to create jobs or fight to keep people from losing their jobs before you increase taxes. If people dont have jobs the cant pay taxes. This tax cut crap is stupid. When money for budgets are short you look to increasing taxes but you must increase prosperity. I am going to apply for disability tomorrow coz i must be mentally disabled if i am the only one who can see this.

When money for budgets is short you dont raise taxes..you have to cut spending...I don't see spending being cut..New York State has a bloated public work force...Bloated budget
..Cut some of these high price social service type programs. In genesse county they give 20 dollars a week to teenagers who are in the social welfare services..They drive them to appointments..My children worked for there money, the county didnt drive them anywhere...It all about power..Impeach the Governor would be a good start..
