Photo: Barn on Macomber Road, Oakfield

By Howard B. Owens

I was in Oakfield this evening chasing what turned out to be a story that didn't pan out, but I figured so long as I was out that way and the sun was setting, I should try to find a barn to photograph at sunset. This is what I came up with. It's on Macomber Road near Galloway.

That is 7834 Macomber rd, i grew up there and raised many animals for 4h meat sale.Farming was very hard work. The inside of that barn is so big you would not realize it by looking at it.There used to be a silo. That barn is old.A very old neighbor of ours said they brought the silo in pieces on a train and then on horse drawn wagons. It was all built be hand.In those days neighbors would help.I think it is one of the last standing magnificent barns like it.Its a very nice pic.
