Today's Poll: Are the terrorists winning?

By Howard B. Owens

I guess it depends on what you mean by "winning." Are they disrupting airline travel? They have had a huge impact there (no pun intended). Do they cause a bit of paranoia, warranted or not, in the general populace? It seem as though they have. Whether they're "winning" or not, they sure are costing everyone around the world a lot of money.

One week ago my wife had to throw away a new unopened bottle of Lancome Moisturizer that cost $45 because of a mixup in baggage. It was either that or miss the flight, total bullshit. Of course the terrorists have won. Everybody is afraid of their own shadow and predicting doom and gloom. What could be better than to control people's minds and make them do stupid things? It causes chaos and gives the Taliban a good chuckle.

I agree George.... seems over-reaction is becoming rule of the day. However I am thinking the new security regulations might be short lived from this news excerpt.

WASHINGTON – The head of the Transportation Security Administration is acknowledging that the new pat-downs are more invasive than what travelers were used to in the past.

TSA administrator John Pistole says he has received the new pat-down, as has his boss, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.

Some travelers complain that the new inspections target sensitive body areas. Pistole says he understands those privacy concerns, but says the government must provide the best possible security for air travelers.

Pistole was testifying before a Senate committee about TSA policies and procedures. The hearing was scheduled before the recent outrage about airport security pat-downs.

When Govt administrators make public statements like this it opens the door to change otherwise they would have just went with the paragraph that said this...

Some travelers complain that the new inspections target sensitive body areas. Pistole says he understands those privacy concerns, but says the government must provide the best possible security for air travelers.

So maybe they are realizing that they overstepped, either that or congress and senate are getting so much negative feedback that it's beginning to ripple through washington. After all cant piss us voters off too much if they want to keep their jobs.

Just don't voice an opinion that people dressed in Islamic garb make you nervous. In America, that could get you fired.

A reminder of sorts that these "terrorists" are of one bent, determined to bring their Islamic religious beliefs to your door - one way or another.

Osama Bin Laden promised to bankrupt America with wars and terrorist attacks. I think the wars are one half of our deficit now. I'd call that winning...when an iron-age culture can have such an influence on our economy.
