I would honestly love to hear the reasoning from the 10 or so "yes" voters. What has he done to merit getting your vote?

Who is his opponent? Hard to make a choice without knowing the options.

It is kind of unfair for many politicians right now to be "liked". I feel like they cant be well liked if you have to make unpopular decisions. I cant remember any politician that i voted for and once they got into office and started working that i didnt end up with "voters remorse". I voted undecided because of the reasons above.

I find it interesting; when Paterson announced that New York's economic situation was dire and hard choices had to be made; everyone applauded. When he made the choices, we scream like stuck pigs. The New York legislature is notorious for taking its sweet time to generate a consistently late budget deal. Why do we bellyache when the governor takes a representative few by the collar to hammer out an agreement in short-order? Can't you hear the symphony of tears in the background? It's the bacon harvesters who feel shortted on pork.

I applauded the message last summer..time to cut spending and tighten our belts. I scream now as a 9% spending increase is being proposed. I DO feel like a stuck pig...and you know where he stuck it!! Right up our arse!

The situation in New York State has gone well past the critical stage. We are on the cusp of a complete financial meltdown. It is a proven fact that you can not tax a state or federal level of government into economic prosperity. The governor knew that 30% of the state's revenue was gathered from Wall Street and the collapse of this source was going to effect the state budget. The situation now requires drastic measures in job cut backs and reduced state spending. As more industry and jobs flee NYS, the noose will only tighten strangling those who elect to remain or who either are unwilling or unable to flee this debacle.

If they had cut spending and then said, but we still need to increase incoming revenue in some way, so some taxes and fee increases are necessary ... then, that might make some sense. But to increase spending and taxes and fees and take more than $6 billion in stimulus money on top of that ... just seems insane to me. It's certainly not fiscally responsible.

C.M., Most of us were willing to give him a chance. He was talking the talk. He said he would make the hard calls, but with the "3 men in a room", he caved in. Spending is even higher than the gov. even asked for. In two years when the bail out money is gone, then what? He just put off the hard decisions until after the next election is over
