Today's Poll: Is Osama bin Laden still alive?

I suppose it matters, Jeff, because so long as it's believed he's still alive, there will be a pretext for our continued deployment of troops in the Afghanistan region. Maybe not the only pretext, but a pretext.

At this point it has become somewhat of an embarassment when we have the best trained, best equipped military in the world and special ops forces second only to maybe Israel. President Bush failed to truly commit to Bin Laden's demise and President Obama hasn't committed to it either. I truly believe that we can find anyone, at anytime, anywhere on the globe and take them out. I tend to agree with your precept that his continued existence fits well into the big picture for our government.
And Dave, I agree, it was a real dog and pony show.

I wish the troops were pulled out of both Iraq and Afghanistan. Perhaps a covert operation could be put in their place. Too many lives lost in there seemingly endless wars.

I believe he's been dead for years. We haven't had a video from him in a long time that had any type of representation of current events. The last video I remember seeing he had a black beard, not gray. Dying his beard would be against his religion. So I think it was from before the wars ever started.

It is my sincere belief he is buried in a cave in the mountains of Afghanistan that the US bombed.
