Today's Poll: Should the Genesee County Legislature consider a tax increase for 2011?

I am of the opinion that they should consider it. However their actions have shown more than a few times that their goal is not to, to the detriment of anything else. Wonder how loud the people of this county have to get to be heard over the legislators own agendas.

It is made easy for them...the multitude want no new tax increases. The Legislaters want to give them what they want so they can be re-elected. It should be their responsibility to inform the public what is in their best interests in the long run and why by showing figures of what can happen later, but that is alot of work. Now they can stamp approval and most people are happy with it. Let the increases come later on somebody elses watch.

Have you ever watched "It's a Beautiful Life?" Do you want Beautifultavia for your grandchildren or Beatdowntavia? What you decide in the present will determine their future.
"But for Buttavia, there go eye, thank you Batavians and Merry damn Christmas."

Hmmmm are you sure about that, sure we can all say that the people dont want a tax increase, hell I dont want a tax increase either. But some places are easier to cut in than others, some could get by on what they have with no additional finances needed. Seems if the GJ is cut up and restructured it will not be the same.

as someone pointed out before even the legislators realize the importance of this program yet are willing to let it go because of their arrogance and self righteousness.

Here it is......Hancock expressed both support for the idea and admiration for Minardo's self-sacrifice, but also said she felt obligated to support the directive given to Gsell in the first place.

"The people who have come forth on this particular issue are people I respect," said Hancock. "These are people who don't usually take such strong stands on issues. I know they like us. They're not against us, but they're wondering why we're doing this. They must be right, but strangely I think I'm right."

There is no way, Hancock said, the Legislature can consider a tax increase.

Now what does that comment say to you, my interpretation of it is, people I respect who dont usually get involved have given me an opinion, yet my opinion is better cause I think the immediate fufillment is more important than the long term.

Not a good time...the economy is still bleak. I just dont get thier way of thinking. They should all take cuts instead of cut jobs and raise taxes. This way at least ppl are still working and putting into the economy. Its a win win situation. ooops sorry...this makes too much sense....so not gonna happen

LOL Mary, common sense, something that is almost non-exsistant anymore, even more so when you hold an elected position nowadays.
