When a cat is declawed it is actually an amputation of the last joint on it's paw. It is a painful procedure with a painful recovery. From the above poll. I can tell at least 300 animal lovers replied. To keep your cat from scratching furniture, all you have to do is clip the nail ends. It is very simple, my daughter clips my cat's nails in seconds...

I agree with you Howard after reading your link. The article seems to center on feral cats but includes cats that are allowed to roam. The feral cat population should be controlled more effectively but then you are facilitating the growth in population of rats. Pick your poison. Domestic cats should be subject to the same rules that dog owners endure. I still think it's wrong to mutilate cats paws
