Criminal case dismissed, but reason being kept secret

By Howard B. Owens

The criminal case of a Bergen woman accused of stealing $35,000 from a former Rochester resident has been dismissed, but Judge Robert C. Noonan's order dismissing the charges is being hidden in the defendant's now-sealed court file.

A court official said as a routine matter, case files are sealed when charges are dismissed.

Noonan's order would possibly include his findings in the matter and explain any deficiencies in the government's case and possibly include exculpatory information favoring the defendant.

Michele Case, 45, of 7100 N. Bergen Road, Bergen, was subjected to a criminal investigation by State Police after allegations arose that she improperly obtained funds the woman's accounts while caring for the ailing, elderly woman.

Judge Noonan has declared this a case of nunya. That's a legal term not everyone is familiar with but I learned it trough a long and frustrating life. Often we want answers but we end up with a decision of nunya instead.
Like when I used to ask my esteemed grandpa why he was doing whatever he was doing. He always told me, nunya business.

Maybe the "nunya" rule is a good one in this instance. If the case was dismissed then she did nothing wrong, period. There's nothing to tell anyone except "case dismissed." Only nosy people would wonder otherwise.

charges dropped in this case, but then she is charged with not picking her kid up at the bus stop (she was probably in court!)

Michele Case, 45, of North Bergen Road, Bergen, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Case is accused of failing to provide supervision for her juvenile son when he got off the bus at his residence.

Hey, Michele, you know what is weird? I NEVER realized until just the other day they put FULL addresses in the police blotter. I do not like that at all. I read your comment on the other thread. I knew darn well I saw at least two articles saying you were 35. But I could not say for absolute certainty it was that article as I was only looking @ age. Good luck w/your other case.
