Open Thread: Who are you voting for and why?

By Howard B. Owens

The Batavian is not endorsing candidates in any race, but there's no reason you can't take a moment to post your own personal endorsements.

Use the comment space on this post to tell us who you're voting for and why. Try to polish up your best argument in favor of your preferred candidate.

You can write about just one race, or all of the races from the President on down to county coroner.

Make your case well enough and maybe you'll change another voter's mind.

Try to avoid criticizing or questioning another voter's endorsements -- let's make this thread about who will vote for and why, not about debating with other posters the merits of their picks.

I am voting for Nicole Brady for Coroner. I don’t have anything against her opponents. In fact, I don’t even know their names. At this point, I am sick of talking points, slick campaign managers, robot calls, endless mailers and unqualified people pretending to be the answer to the world’s problems.

I need to vote for one real person this year that I can be proud of. Nicole has only the Conservative line and because of that will probably not win. I am still proud of having one of Nicole’s signs up in my yard. She is a real person who will enjoy giving her time for public service and that is what we should be looking for in a candidate. I know who I’m voting for first, Nicole Brady. None of my other votes will really make much of a difference.

Brady 08'!!!

I have decided to hold my nose and vote for Alice Kryzan. I see Chris Lee as another do-nothing who'll just follow directions from his Republican masters and help a few hometown rich buddies get a few deals. I don't see him doing much for our area. Plus, he acts like a typical corporate "Empty Suit" with his dislike of personal interviews. Kryzan at least has a plan and an agenda. I am in agreement with her on alternative energy and environmental protection. SInce it appears that Democrats will control the House, Senate and the White House, we might as well have a Representative on the winning team. Maybe something will get back to Genesee County. Not a ringing endorsement, but it's the best I can do.

I, too, voted for Nicole. It took a bit to find her name WAY down the list, but I did find her. Obama, Alice, and Mesi also received my vote.
It is time for a change!

I actually voted. I was out taking photos and, even though I can't stand anybody in the presidential race, decided I would do some voting.
I voted for Nicole as well. She comes off as a cool person and the coroner election was the only one I really had given any thought to. I just went conservative with all my other picks, like always.

Your right, it should be an appointed post based on a set of qualifications. But, the job is more than saying the person is dead. It is also being able to work with the families and not everyone can do that.
