Deer inside house on Myrtle Street, Le Roy

By Howard B. Owens

A deer has jumped through a window of a residence at 12 Myrtle Street, Le Roy.

One report said it had been confined to a bedroom.  A later dispatch said, "it's running around the house."

Le Roy Police and State Police responding to the scene.

A Le Roy office inquired to double-check the kind of tag to issue if the residents wish to keep the deer.

UPDATE 8:17 a.m.: An environmental conservation officer is on scene.

Such a nice thing to wake up to in the morning. Deer running around in the apartment next door. Le Roy police here along with the conservation offer, and there talking about shooting the deer in the house.

I had to shoot a raccoon that got into my house through the pet door that the cats use. On 5/12/11 at about 10:30pm I was awoken to the sound of 2 cats and a raccoon doing battle under my bed. The raccoon proceeded to climb on top of me and I had to throw it off. The cats disappeared and the house went silent as I grabbed the Marlin .22 I keep next to the bed. There I was, naked, stalking through the house, .22 in hand looking for WTF. The raccoon headed for the cat door from the kitchen to exit the house but it decided to head back towards me instead. I stomped on the floor and yelled trying to get it to go back towards the pet door but it just kept coming towards me...bad mistake. The house ended up smelling like gunpowder, cat and raccoon ass.

Edit 2:50pm: After reading this I have come to realize that I am such a freaking redneck. God I love living here :-)

Howard, the deer jumped back out the back window it jumped in through and headed west up myrtle street towards lake street at about 9AM. I was out back when the fairly good sized doe left the scene. Looked like there were some people there from another news agency, they were taking pictures. Unfortunately I was headed off to work else I would have had my camera and sent you some pictures.

You're probably right Doug. I have admitted it here before - I like pickled pigs' feet. Thus, I will try not to make ugly faces when thinking about things others find toothsome, like pickled deer heart. (I guess I'll call it even - "six of one, half dozen of the other.")
